Buy remanufactured engine or do in-frame/out of frame?

If they are set up to do warranty work for cat/cummins yes.....these days it's mostly dealers across the country .

All you have to do is ask them.

 

3 years/300 000 miles is that usual for a crate engine?

Then I was better off with the platinum kit + a 4th year warranty and unlimited miles.
I got it done for 22 000. Included platinum kit, 4th year warranty, precooler, front structure resealed and front engine mount replaced at no extra cost on labour.

It's 3 1/2 years ago now there is an oil leak on the right side which I thought could have been the water pump. CAT checked it out and found the front structure leaking again. A 20 hr warranty job is scheduled for mid March already.
I'd be way over now on the 300 000 mile limit.

 

I was quoted $10k to do an inframe on my DT466 with a 6-8 week wait time. I purchased all the parts and special tools and did it myself for $2300. It took about 4.5 days to get it back on the road
