This thread ought to be moved to the "garage" section. Get some Donaldson M100463 free flow mufflers. They are the same mufflers Pittsburgh Power sells as their "brand name" free flow muffler for about a third of the price. Should be the same size as what's already on your Pete. The only tuning options would be BullyDog or PDI for better performance and up to 1mpg improvement in fuel economy. I'd go with PDI stage 1 tune but that's just me. Put a fuel temp wire on it to trick the ecm into thinking the fuel temp is 167* F will give it touch more power (hardly noticeable) and slightly better economy. You can make one for about $5 in parts or buy one for $100. Shim the fuel pump to get psi up. That's it. You'll have a 725hp truck that pulls like a champ and gets great fuel economy if you treat it right. Don't waste your time and money with dealer tunes from Peterbilt or CAT.
SHC, Bob's Buzz and barroll Thank this. -
As Rollin said... get some free flow Donaldson's and remove the catalytic convertor from underneath the cab. Then i would look into getting a Bully Dog Power Pup and have the overhead ran. You should see some decent gains after all that.

in order
run overhead
get the higher flow cat fuel filter i forget the part # right now but you can find it in the garage threads
replace all the silicone turbo boots.
donaldson mufflers and remove the cat if you have one
PDI tune
at least that's the route i'm working on -
-
My 07's were in the mufflers, when you change to flow thru, you loose 1-200 pounds
-
sorry, the KW's have them under the truck
-
removing the cat is against the law, isn't it?
and if you live in an emissions county. you just got screwed.
but if you go to answers.com. it says NO cats. the emissions controls are in the motor itself. -

can that donaldson be installed horizontally? the pitsburg power unit says its for verticly use only.
