Looking at buying a new (to me) truck. Found a 2015 t800 that’s setup for what I am looking for ( day cab, wetkit, heavy rears) but it has 770k on it. Obviously it can blow up tomorrow or it could go another 10 years. Anyone have experience with a high mile mx13? Should I just avoid it? Am I crazy for even considering it?

Kinda what I was thinking.. but if it made it that far without issues maybe it’ll keep going. My gut is telling me no, but the truck is setup and ready for what I need.

Go read my new owner op thread. MX13s are #### to begin with. A used high mile motor that was lord only knows how badly cared for? Just set your money on fire. At least it will be useful for warmth and not take the rest of all your assets with it as it burns while leaving you in debt to your eyeballs.

I wouldnt take another paccrap motor if you GAVE it to me. And i sure as bloody hell wouldnt waste the cash on it.

The only reason I was even considering it is because it’s all set up for what I need, but it’s probably not worth the headache.

If you need a reason to file bankruptcy, go ahead and snag it. Then, you’ll have your reason.

Is the Cummins really that much better though?

It ain’t going to go another 10 years :)

I had a 2014 MX-13 500hp in a T-680. I had no trouble with mine and have nothing bad to say about it.
I actually got rid of mine at 750k because I new an in frame was coming due and didn’t want to deal with the bs a down time.

That engine is due now for an in frame and if you think you can squeeze more miles out of it then you may live to regret it.

To me anything with that mileage is a boat anchor.

Cummins is red, Paccar is black.

From what I understand some are the same engine with a different color paint. Not all but I don’t remember the specifics

I just wrote a quote today to replace an X15 with a complete drop in and only had 530k on the clock.

I have seen many MX13 epa 13 make it over a million when taken care of. It’s probably the best year to get IMO. Problem is you get one that was beat on and not maintained and it will break you.
