    Looking to buy a truck

    considering either a freightliner cascadia 126 - used - detroit - maximum 350k miles - 475hp minimum

my budget would be around $100,000 for this truck.

my other option that ive been considering is buying an older truck such as a w900 or a pete with a cat motor and running that.

But alot of the older trucks i see online have 1 million plus miles.

let me know your thoughts and what i should do

Have you taken a look at current freight rates? It's your money to do with what you want, but definitely not a good idea right now.

You can buy a lot more truck for 100k than a half wore out Cascadia. At least right now

Quick tip - look at engine hours instead of miles. Many truck that I looked at when I was buying my cascadia has altered mileage - be on look out for that. I buy only used trucks with APU, so the idle hours are on APU not main engine.
Don't buy a truck with more than 20,000 hours on it. The average milage for company driver is 100,000 miles per year, so if a truck is 7 years old and only has 400,000 miles on it should be suspicious.
Also about horsepower, I was looking to buy a 500 HP cascadia but ended up buying 400 HP. I found out they all the same engines and you can just update firmware at dealer to turn 400 hp to 475, 455, 425 HP whatever you want.

I’d do the Cascadia, but I would think you could get a whole lot less miles for that much money. I bought a 2017 Cascadia sleeper truck for $53,500 with 345,000 miles. Was a very good truck for years. I got it deleted and never gave me any serious trouble.

If you can’t turn a wrench don’t bother with an old truck, and absolutely NOT on a used emission truck, brand new only

Invest the 100K on something that will give you more of a return than that truck right now.

Lol was going to ask the same thing. I think the general consensus drivers have is that if they can make money driving for someone else, owning a truck would net them even more

Rideandrepair, Concorde and ducnut Thank this.
