I'm looking to get back on the road. call me crazy but I need to "drive". Anyway, I'm considering buying a truck and going the O/O route for a couple of reasons. I'm not looking to make a ton of money. I'm retired and mainly want to drive (and make a little money). I'm estimating maybe only 50/60000 miles/year running only 30 weeks or so.. That should net me around $30,000 except that the insurance is going to kill me. I know I will pay the insurance weather I drive 120,000 or 60,000.My question is has anybody tried leasing their truck out to keep it rolling ?? I have my own company and own authority and I guess I could try and find somebody like me to drive it when I'm not rolling ?? Any suggestions/ideas ??.

The only time I’ve heard of a Company letting you do it, charges back for Liability. Maybe a self insured Company would allow part time work? Why not just pay the insurance, and run just a little bit more to cover the cost? Putting a Driver in the Truck seems too risky for me. One mistake, or abuse of equipment, there goes the whole year. I’ve thought about doing the same. Either way, it’s going to cost. Being that working is optional, you can work smart, easily meet your goal. Depending on other costs like equipment payments. Just insurance? Should be possible. Insurance like repairs, pay and look away while doing so. Lol.
