The company I work for has a '06 Volvo with a first generation automatic. It has 925,000 miles on it and has had ONE transmission related repair. If you want an auto, don't worry about what other drivers want. You're lucky to find two truckers who agree about ANYTHING. LOL

Don't let these guys talk you out of an auto if that's what you want.

    Try www.truckpaper.com

If it were me - I'd be looking at a Freightliner with Detroit power.

    RoadSpartan Thanks this.

Look it over in person, with a magnifying glass. Know a shop you trust? Take it to them and have them inspect it. Lifetime averages on the ecm, high idle time not good. Dyno to see if engine is healthy. I think the price is decent, but I haven't studied the market in a long time, might be able to get a little knocked off of the price.

Don't let the tires scare you, just keep an eye on the pressures as you should a set of duals and you will be ok.
