Next truck I spec will be a 20 year runner. Either that or they'll mandate alot more BS regulations and I'll find a different line of work.

I also have new truck trailer on order will be discs on all axles nothing to grease no out of adjustment issues better pedal feel.
The only negative experience I have had with trailer discs is it seems as though I have had more axle seal replacement due to leaking, but I would guess that more a function of what seals the manufactures are using than whether the brakes are disc or drum. -
The reason that anyone with disc brakes can have premature axle seal failure is excess heat. Although disc brakes can dissipate heat much faster than drums (only when your off the brake) they can produce just as much, and in such cases more heat. Because discs are lighter than drums, there's less metal to absorb the heat, therefore more heat can be transfered to the hub when you get those discs really hot. More heat in the hub, cooks the seals.
A disc can always dissipate heat faster than a drum, not just because they are lighter, but because they are vented. So if your engine/exhaust brake is not up to the job, using stab/snub braking with discs is particularly effective because they cool so quickly when your off the brakes.
As Kansas Transit said poor quality seals will always fail prematurely, I use scott seal xl plus where possible.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
As noted I suspected driver as you do need to be a bit careful with a near max load on just 3 axles 52000 gross.
But after replacing the seals with Gold upgrades no more issues?

I would highly recommend disc brakes no while you have the option we have recently upgraded our fleet to a lot of new T800's and W900's and so far we have not had a single issue with them and our work is primarily oilfield / start / stop and max gross

I was quoted 4500 for chaging all pads and disc on my 2008 western star.
