Either getting the software for your engine or getting the Bully Dog that lets you change the governor are the easiest ways for those working up there.

Yeah, but the cost is what terrifies me. Ebay sells bully dog approx $200-300 cheaper than bully dog site.

So, if I get a truck with 2.64 rear ends and my driver drives at 65mph, what gear would be the best for a direct drive?

I plan to govern the speed of the truck, have not decided yet if I should do it at 68 or 70mph...

Tire size will be a factor in overall gearing. Will the tractor have typical car hauler tires? Those are pretty small.

    Decide what size tires first.

Unless it comes from Fitzgeralds and ends up in a Detroit shop for an inframe......again.
They don't use Detroit parts, so make the repair shop wait for them to send the parts in to make the repairs. If a glider is your deal, then get one from Iowa.
There are ZERO guarantee's on any new truck though, glider or not. SO dont bank on one never being in the shop. Mine has never left me stranded, and it is an emission truck. I have seen gliders in the Detroit shops getting major work done, after coming in on a wrecker. You never know....

Maybe they install engines in the dealer.

Most traditional trucks pulling high mount trailers are on 22.5's on the truck side then either 19.5 or 22.5 on the trailer. Could save a little height with 255/70R22.5 vs the traditional 295's. Stingers however that in particular run the northeast, have seen some of those on 19.5's all the way around.

Curious as to what year of emissions. DPF only or DPF/SCR? Think have read in past posts you were running a Western Star?

DPF only trucks started in 2007. SCR trucks after 2010.

On my current truck I have standard size tires, so I think I will get original size tires when I order a new truck unless I find out that there are significant benefits to get different size tires.

It all depends on what you can afford.
