As with any truck purchase, you need to do your due diligence. Dyno and blow by tests, oil analysis and ecm dump. Will these Fleet Sales places let you do that? Even if they throw in some kind of warranty, it wont cover you down time. Be picky.

Yes, I'm aware of that. They sell their trucks before 500,000 miles so they don't have to spend the $5000 -$10,000 on the big 500k overhaul. I'm budgeted for that. But at least they sell their trucks before they break down or start to need parts, not after. Ideally, at least.

Yup, I bought this thing I'm driving now from Werner almost 2 years ago and no bad surprises. But then again I was a company driver with them when I did that so maybe they sell better trucks to the internal owner ops. I've gone to Landstar since then so now I am a stranger and even a traitor, lol

Thanks for the good advice. I was wondering, would you be able to give any hints on how to pick out the best truck out of say 10 available ones, so I can focus those efforts on it. I don't think they going to let me Dyno 10 or 20 trucks, not that I would have time or money for that anyways...

Also, do you know if shops ever do oil analysis same day? Usual mail in oil analysis takes weeks and nobody's going to hold the truck for me for that long.

That's an interesting idea, I haven't thought of those guys. What are the advantages versus Big Truck Company Fleet Sales?
