    Hi.

I'm purchasing a 2016 Mack with 300K miles on it and and done my due diligence before deciding to purchase it.

The one thing that I did not consider is a dyno/Blowby test.

I've literally covered all of my other bases except for that one thing.

    Is this a huge mistake?

I could afford an overhaul but I certainly wouldn't really want to right out of the gate.

Otherwise, the tractor is in exceptionally good condition.

    Thank you

Did you run the testprograms a dealer has in the Mack software?

It's still at mack getting some regular maintenance stuff done to it. I'm getting an ECM dump and changing some parameters.

    I'll ask them tomorrow.

    What are these test programs?

I don't know the Mack program in detail.
BUT they should have several tests like injectors,compression,.................
With our Paccar program they can for example switch off 1 injector at a time thus testing the engine.(just to mention 1 thing)
Talk to the guy who knows the Mack program(not the guy who greases the 5th wheel)

    Test the afterthreatment too.
See what readings they have for the different sensors.

It's an MP8. Rigdig looks good. It only has a few months of factory warranty and I'm not even touching that aftermarket warranty.

    I'll ask them tomorrow.

    Thank you!

Honestly, been around trucks/equipment all my life and have never heard of blowby and dyno testing used trucks until I joined this site 5 years ago.

Unscrewing the oil cap will tell you quite a lot, if there’s any milk at the bottom of it or if there’s a puffing sound.
