the reason I went around last spring was because we were not plated for anything west of Tx. we already bought three day permits for Az, and the time ran out even though we sat in Phoenix for the 3 days, when we left we would have had to pay again for nothing so we made sure we didn't. Why pay if you don't have to, its only illegal if you get caught

    Well said!
And alot of times the interstate isn't the shortest route and being stuck at 65 why not take a secondary route with less traffic, less patrolmen(NICEWORD) and some times better roads and more scenic!

I'll route to avoid them if it doesn't make me late or add too many miles to the trip. Rarely is there ever anything wrong with my truck, its just the delay that irks me.

I will also second the clean truck thing. Clean dash, clean exterior, no forest of dangly things, wires or stickers...often makes all the difference. That and rolling down the window as you're rolling up.

While most ports use either computerized signs, or traffic type signals, a few still have a speaker where they verbally direct you to do what they want. Kind of hard to hear with the windows rolled up and the CB/Stereo blasting.

I used to roll down the windows so they didnt see my limo tinted windows, but Iowa trooper busted me on that one, so no more window tint!! LOL
