Does anyone know where I could find some illustrated instructions as to how to perform a complete overhead service on a 2006 MXS C-15 ACERT. I've looked on the internet and I haven't found anything. I don't mind spending a little money but I don't want to spend $500 for a Caterpillar shop manual.

$500 is a little money! The manuals are well worth the money if you plan to do your own work!

$500 might seem like a lot but I'd bet it would cost you close to that that for the tuneup you're wanting. So first use would about pay for it. Not a bad ROI IMO. You'll probably need some feeler gauges and maybe
other specialized tools. But then you'll have them for next time and next....
Those books usually will have other very helpful info, maybe even for an overhaul. -
Just a little tip, if you order from a truck dealer such as Peterbilt or Kenworth, you will save a little. Cat has a deal with all dealers not to undercut them, check it out before you buy.
