We are looking for a newer truck and have been looking at the Kenworth W900. We would prefer a cummins engine but most out there have the c-15 cat in them. Anyone have any experience with these engines? What kind of fuel mileage do you get? Are parts expensive compared to other brands? Is it reliable? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

If you don't know about these engines you have no buisness buying a truck imho

The pre-Acert C-15's were fair, but not as good as the 3406E. The Acert twin turbos avoid.

112racing,,, gee thanks for your input! I do know about CAT engines. I just have no first hand experience with them in a truck. That doesn't make me stupid as you implied. KW seems to have more trucks on the market with those engines in them than they do the cummins. That tells me one of two things,,, either they are a pile of #### and that's why there are so many on the market or they are just real common. I would like to know which. I also know from first hand experience running / working on heavy equipment that if it is a CAT the parts are outrageously expensive compared to other equipment manufacturers. So I guess if my asking questions about something before I buy makes me an idoit, so be it. I kinda think the people that reply to questions with sarcastic, smart ##### answers have the I D 10T problemmontana cowboy Thanks this.

The C-15 are as good as any engine and as far as I know the acert problems have been dealt with. cats part prices have dropped a lot lately butbefore you buy one find a good wrench bender that knows these engines. When cat said they were getting out of the truck engine bussiness a lot of people paniced and put the cat power up for sale. my 2.78 cents worth (inflation)

my motor(c15 acert) actually burning the oil or is being thrown out the breather tube. From all the info I have gathered I can tell ya that the ACERTs do use more oil. For one they have more oil being used in the top end which turns the oil into a mist then you add the extra boost which adds extra crankcase pressure and the oil mist ends up out the breather tube what can this be any one know what is the solution
