If there were abundance of trucks and the industry was starving, I can see the attituded people putting the food on the table ( Saying you have to work for me for free or next to nothing before seeing any reasonable load) I don't think this person is putting food on my table more like his own bank.
Billy Bob can't run for more than a month on this lane for that rate, during the holidays there is parking lot on every junction in the Northeast and the fuel is not cheap. Daily expense for trucking company is approx $90/day. Billy Bob can't avoid that either.

What I dont understand is, why does it concern you as trucker what the other trucker is running for? You have a set rate per mile and you should stick to that. Calling out an employee of a said company certainly dosent improve your chances. They are running a business for profit as you are and blaming them for not making money is quite ignorant!

200 calls a day and all covered ????? and same trashy people no matter even if you call different broker every time??? If Columbia SC, Columbus OH, Chicago IL are booked as soon they are posted then what the hexx are you talking about countering and getting at the end of the day. The trash intercepts the call and says it is booked. I mean THE Terror group, and if you don't know sooner or later you or your children will be in the same situation I will personally call you and ask about it then. It will not be a call just to make fun of you but to actually help you at any cost no matter what as long as you are a human being or at least look like one. The only two loads even in Jacksonville or Savannah or Columbia SC, Mike from Freight Quote kept on calling about the same load to Saginaw MI full load for $1500 which is below the cost and I will not take it. The other one was to Brooklyn for $1800 started from Jacksonville and kept on offering me till Columbia SC all others covered as soon they were posted.

It's not Billy Bob's Trucking that is hauling this stuff cheap. More than likely it is a very professional, very business minded company who has a dispatcher with 10 trucks to book loads for and a direct customer in New Jersey to get too. I resent that people assume it's slip-shod owner operator's hauling cheap. I don't see much evidence of that. If anything it may be company with an O/O leased on who they don't much care for. What do they care ? Book him a cheap load and what difference is 20% on 2200 vs. 1900 ?

    Danny is exactly right.

Example: In my area there is a Large furniture manf. , they have their own private fleet of trucks (150 of them) I know for a fact they have an agreement with 2 large brokerages for loads coming back into this area, from all over the U.S. They will take them at any rate, even for fuel money, just to get their trucks back.

As an O/O you cant compete with that.

I have pulled many loads for CHR and have always been happy with the rates. I've negotiated a rate from $2,500 there first offer to $3,800 and also pulled lots of loads at half the weight then they had posted, one load was marked at 45,000lbs ended up being 1,800lbs. I find them to be fair but I've never took there first offer!

I am company driver, not O/O, but i have never understood a cheaper rate for a backhaul. All loads have a starting and ending point. They should all be billed accordingly. I understand lighter loads may get hauled slightly cheaper then heavy loads, but what it costs to run the truck is what it costs.
