CR England has had a part in many trucking companies. From Wikipedia
"Carl Moyes was a driver for C.R. England in the 1940s, and his two sons, Jerry and Ronald, were childhood friends with Jeff England, son of Gene and grandson of Chester. Carl left CR England to start his own company with his wife, Betty, B & C Truck Leasing. Carl and Betty later employed the Knight cousins to drive for them. Maude Knight married Chester R. England in 1916. Carl and his two sons moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1966, and founded Common Market, the company that later became Swift Transportation in 1969. Brothers Kevin and Keith Knight and along their cousins Randy and Gary Knight, who also moved to Phoenix and worked for Swift, then founded Knight Transportation in 1990. Jeff England founded Pride Transport in 1979 in Salt Lake City."

Astute observation and excellent advice. You've hit the head right on the nail with your second post.
Very impressive.:smt045
Welcome to the forums.
I think you'll be an attribute here.
I'm lookin' forward to readin' more of your thoughts.
Please, write on.

Doing so changes the complexion of ddx40's intended point to consider and renders your reply useless, --- except for typin' practice.
ddx40 wasn't talkin' 'bout layovers, but rather one of C.R.E.'s tactics used to persuade hungry drivers to sign a lease agreement --- without allowing the contract to be read outside the room. The signing of the contract is more out of desperation rather than any desire.
That may not be considered using force, but it is the definition of bein' pressured.
Bait-N-Switch tactics.
Misrepresentation.
Lies.
Tools of the trade for the Sons-0-Chester.
Business as usual.
Buyer beware.

The being to lazy to read thing absolutely kills me. If that is any indication of personal effort put forth I feel sorry for the employers that hire some of these people. Sorry for the rant. Maybe I should start a thread asking why and someone could explain it to me.Last edited: Sep 27, 2011

Except for the statistic that you've included, --- that you cannot prove is accurate because you just pulled the numbers out of the air --- in an attempt to place blame somewhere other than where the problems originate, is almost word for word what we've heard from the other defenders of the Sons-0-Chester.
I'm goin' out on a limb here, but I surmise y'all were exposed to a C.R.E. brain washing sometime during orientation and/or training. Next I expect to read how all those who are kicked to the curb by C.R.E. are those with "poor work ethics". And I'll bet there are those who choose to believe that bovine excrement.
If that were true, it sure suggests that C.R.E.'s screening process is less than desirable. Other Big truck truckin' companies manage to identify that characteristic during the screening process and weed 'em out and reject their application. C.R.E. doesn't seem able to do that, or, .......... that's exactly the types they're lookin' to hire, ............... and fire. I suspect doin' that is profitable for the company. If it weren't profitable they'd make changes pronto.
So, ..... when C.R.E. sets the bait with how much better it is to lease a Big truck from them and become one's own boss, it's actually not true? A lie?
I'm AfterShocked!
Why would they do that, --- other than for the love of money (the root of all evil)?
Let's hear it.
More propaganda planted in a washed brain. At best an assumption that other drivers just sit and complain and do nothing. Rather arrogant and typical of C.R.E. All those, other than C.R.E. drivers, are somehow beneath the stature of those employed by the benevolent Sons-0-Chester.
You might be joking about that, but the Sons-0-Chester anticipate such a reaction from those that they've done wrong. They're afraid, --- a by-product of greed.
A quick question, --- if, during your employment with C.R.E. you should discover that the complaints about said company are, in fact, true, ............. would you post your discovery here, or just disappear rather than admit you were incorrect?
I realize that C.R.E. has someone who reads these threads and the consequences for posting things that would be considered potentially detrimental to their bottom line would result in severe get-evenism for anyone who let the cat out of the bag.
One thing that cat would know is that
The Truth Will Set You Free.
Good luck BatMan.
(Robin' is what the Sons-0-Chester do. You'd be wise to dump that side-kick.)

I'm thinkin' a thread askin' "why" is an excellent subject that should produce some interesting insight. While you're at it, ask why some readers consider older threads and posts to be worthless, --- without readin' 'em.
Another case of shootin' the messenger and ignorin' the message?
BTW & FYI, ..... if I were an employer I'd hire you in a New York Minute.
But I'm not an employer.
'Bout all I can do is wish you the best of success, and make you aware that I appreciate your attitude.
I'm pleased that you decided to join the forum by way of the written word. I sincerely hope that you'll keep us informed of your progress. I have a hunch that you'll do quite well --- at whatever you set your mind to accomplish.

There is no brainwashing going on at CRE. 99% of the issues people have with the company are self inflicted, which is a point I bring up. CRE is comparable to the IRS. Both agencies don't hand-pick people to pick on, and they aren't going to hold your hand to make sure you make the correct decisions. Only the IRS will bite you harder when you screw up.
I'm not afraid to admit I was wrong when I know I was incorrect. We are all entitled to our opinions, but I have to correct the BS that gets posted on here.
CRE isn't the only company I drove for. I drove for Werner and DHL. I have friends in just about every mainstream carrier, so it's easy to compare the BS each mainstream carrier hides.
I don't know where you got the bullet proof glass idea from, but CRE is not like that. When I go to Burns Harbor or SLC, I talk to people face to face. No bullet proof glass, no armed security guard breathing down my neck. Yeah, you do have to pass through a medal detector, but so what? You have to pass through one in every mainstream depertment store you walk into.
CRE isn't the greatest company out there. I'll admit that. But there's only so much BS you can take before you start correcting someones complaints. None of the mainstream carriers have a driver friendly lease program, but I will say the program at CRE is better than Werners, and a few others. If you train and/or team up with someone, you can make a killing. Horizons lease program is built around a team and fleet ownership operation. It isn't meant for solo operators. If you want to remain solo, you're better off going as a company driver. If you want to team up with someone, or train, you're better off going with a lease.Last edited: Sep 28, 2011

You know the difference. I can walk into Tommy's office, Phillips, Stevens or walk up to any CS, Safety, Driver Manager, Load planner, Mechanic in my company.
To me the metal detectors magnify their relationship with their drivers. -
Metal detectors magnify fear and lack of trust.
