Saying one thing wrong shouldn't discredit everything else I state. I rarely (if ever) post a opinion on this forum. I never said CRE was the greatest, and I never said CRE was the worst. CRE is just like any other mainstream carrier. You get out what you put in. It's all in your attitude. If you go into orientation expecting to get screwed, you're going to get screwed. If you go into orientation expecting to learn and have a good time in the process, you're going to learn and have a good time. The keys to having success within a mainstream OTR carrier are your ability to keep a open mind and your ability to make sacrifices and compromises.
Can't be away from home for more than 3 weeks? Don't drive OTR.
Don't want to lease? Don't lease.
The bottom line is that the only person responsible for making your career decisions is YOU. Not CRE, not Werner, not Swift, Stevens, Prime, JB Hunt, whoever. You are the one who decided to get a CDL. You are the one who decided to lease a truck. Don't blame the company when you fail. Life is all about taking risks. Your success in life depends on your ability to accept responsibility when a risk you take fails, and your willingness to learn from it. There is no guarantee you're going to succeed at everything you do. The only guarantee we have in life is death.

A driver's ability to make sacrifices and compromises is one thing. But it should never be so one-sided as it appears to be at CRE. (yes, I drove for them briefly back in '96 into early '97).AfterShock Thanks this. -
Plus, you drove for the company 15 years ago. Alot can change in 15 years. -
This is true, but I believe Shakey mentioned the numbers (a law of averages). I have also spoken with more than one CRE driver over the years. Have several that have come to work with us (SNI) that used to L/P before losing their shirts. (That part of it was after my time at CRE.)
Not saying some aren't doing well. I just don't like the odds. If you are, more power to ya. I've stated more than once that one must find the right slot for them. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
More cliches' to follow on many of these TTR stations.....AfterShock Thanks this. -
While some drivers will fail at CRE, others will succeed. With my recent OTR experience, I can find a job with almost any local company if I wanted to. I don't see a reason though as I'm actually making pretty good money here, believe it or not.48Packard Thanks this. -
if cre's lease is so great why did ooida sue and win?

and neither is anyone else.
HaiL!
If we were tryin' to do that, the Moderators could make us disappear.
There are rules to follow here at TTR. The rules apply to EVERYbody. No favoritism is extended for a select few. Quite simply, if ANYone steps out of line, the Mods come and take them away. They can make a poster disappear. But stimulating conversation is not discouraged nor is it against the rules.
Actually, in fact, I'm inclined to complement you for how well you're handling sittin' in the hot seat without blowin' your cool. I appreciate that. If anyone suggests that you should "disappear", I would suggest that notion is what needs to "disappear".
I think you're a likeable guy BatMan, and an attribute to the forums. If you disappeared it would be our loss.
It's twue!

Where I come from, when one makes a mistake and is corrected by another, it's courteous to acknowledge the correction, and thank whomever set the record straight. They've done a favor.
You did not do that.
That subject was quickly dropped as though it wasn't appreciated. And on top of that, your attitude changed as if you're a victim of cyber bullies pickin' on you.
In that case I encourage you to go back and read the previous posts that you've made. 'Cause from where I'm sittin' it appears you've been doin' what you didn't come here to do.
Please don't take that as a complaint from me.
Just an observation.
You were incorrect, you were corrected, and now you feel "bashed"?
What am I missin' here?
Help me understand.
Of course I make mistakes. Who doesn't?
When I do, I appreciate bein' corrected. I'm thankful that someone would clue me in rather than let me continue bein' incorrect. I consider it a favor worthy of a thank you. If not for those who've correct me many times over the years, I wouldn't be as smart as a fifth-grader. I try to keep my eyes, ears and mind open, which sometimes requires that I keep my mouth closed. Listen twice and speak once --- correctly.
It ain't always easy, but it works.
Another thing --------------------------------------- you were asked:
Are you aware that there are those who would consider that bein' a troll? If you don't want to argue why set the bait to attract what you'd rather avoid?
Drvrtech asked a simple question about the information you chose to provide. Your response comes across as a set-up "for people like (him)" to be "bashed".
I suggest that you, sir, are engaging in what you accuse us of doin'.
If one makes comparisons, one should use the same measurin' stick for both, .............. to be fair and accurate.
You've stated that it's your intent to correct all the wrong information here concerning C.R.E.. That makes you a teacher. Teachers are expected to know the material that they teach is as accurate as possible. Otherwise what they teach is questionable at best, and not only worthless, but potentially harmful for those who a teacher misinformed.
If we take a step back and look at the bigger picture it appears that the teacher came to teach us, and it wound up the other way around. And you don't see why that would have a direct impact on the credibility of a teacher?
Now the teacher is scolding the class?
Accusing the student(s) of "bashing" the teacher?

No two people agree on everything in life. Your ability to make friends depends on your ability to make compromises. Any relationship depends on your ability to make compromises. But I am racist against ignorant people. Don't expect me to bow down and worship you when you tell me something useless like you've been driving for 30 years or more. I could care less if your license was suspended and you haven't driven anything in decades.
I also appreciate being corrected. I don't mind constructive criticism. The problem is that before I posted that, this thread was starting to turn into a pissing contest because I said one thing wrong. You only need to correct me one time. I can read.
I don't like people that just agree with everything I say. I like people that act civilized when debating with what I state. Act like a child, and get treated like a child. Treat me with respect, and get the same in return. Don't give me the "respect is earned" crap. This is a online forum. Not a treehouse club.AfterShock Thanks this. -
BTW, my last post was a rant, and not directed at anyone in particular.
AfterShock Thanks this.
