If you get it back, then that's great. With interest it's even better still. It's definitely not a rip in those cases.

But when I was driving, I remember all too vividly certain situations where I would have been ripped if I'd been required to pay into a slush fund.

Like when I was driving for Swift and came up short two bags of styrofoam cups on a load that contained over 17,000 of those bags. I wonder how much I would have been charged for those if I'd paid into a fund? I also remember I got a letter from JerryCo which threatened me with suspension over those two little bags.

Why would you need to pay into a fund to reimburse for damaged freight anyway? It's insured. Also it's not your responsibility if you note damage on BOLs at loading time.

I think a slush fund is a good idea in one way. It'll make drivers think twice about abandoning rigs and loads. But drivers need to be reimbursed, with interest, if their funds are never used. I'm sure there are outfits out there that will try to rip their drivers on this reimbursement at quitting time, meaning a trip to the local labor board would have to happen next.

I'm going to say this once, and I'm not going to be answering any questions after this, so read this over and over again until you completely understand it, then think about it in your own way.

I'm not a young punk, and I've seen things I wouldn't wish on anyone. Once, in the past, I was a medic, I was on the sharp end for a long time, longer then most, and I saw, and did things, I wish on no one. But that was a life ago, and a life I wish not to return to. So if all you people calling me "sissy" and "crybaby" could stop and think that maybe, I know a little about life, and alot more about death, then I wish too, and understand that this is a choice I would like to make, and I would like to do. This job isn't life or death, it is making a paycheck, and dealing with my past. I am not going to talk about this stuff again.

Call me wet behind the ears in trucking, but don't even think I'm wet behind the ears in life buddy boy.

I'm amazed that anybody goes with this company. Positive feedback on CR England in any BB forum is nearly non-existant. I visited 3 private CDL schools, and they ALL had at least a dozen different company brochures on display, with CRE among them. I did ask for opinions on any particular company. At one school, they advised me to call and speak to a half a dozen recruiters to find what options/opportunities were available. The other 2 schools flat out said, "avoid CR England". While message boards aren't necessarily hotbeds of critical thinking/reading/writing, much I've read on them has been validated by the private CDL schools, which I consider to be a prime gatekeeper of the trucking companies. When the CDL schools are telling prospective students to stay away, I have to believe it's time to get back to the drawing board.:laughing7:

What do you call a FORMER :happy2: CRE trainer ?

    An exCREmentor :smt040

i heard the same thing from my school. after i read this forum i asked the dir. about cre. DO NOT GO THERE!!! he replied. you won't make a living. i don't quite understand how these companies are able to stay in business. i know there is good and bad in all companies in any industry, but cre seems to be one of the worst in this industry.

Hi people. I'm new to the forum. I'm experienced but not currently part of the trucking industry, although I'm considering returning. Right now, I'm a driver with City Cab Co. in Salt Lake City UT. I get a lot of business out of CRE over there in West Valley. It's all drivers with their personal gear and they're all going to one of three places, the airport, Greyhound or AmTrack, never to return.

There's also been a few references regarding the local CULT-ure the CRE owners belong to. Not being part of the local CULT-ure enables me to stand back and watch what goes on around here. For many (though not all) members of the local CULT-ure, it's all about money and they will push aside or run over ANYTHING or ANYONE that gets in the way of that, even one another. What happens over at CRE isn't much different from a lot of places around here.

If and when I return to trucking, I've known for a long time where not to go.

BTY, I'm not starting a religeous discussion here and I won't respond to any attempt to do so.

Interesting word you made there, CULT-ure. Moroni probably won't be looking for you.:)

Over the years, I had quite a few dealings with LDS church members, and always had very good experiences with them. Of course, you're a minority in the midst of their promise land. No doubt they control SLC, and the Beehive state. They are at home, and I'm sure where they are the major presence, it's very different. :smt043 In my neck of the woods, they are a minority, keep within themselves, and maintain a wholesome profile.

ps If you happen to stumble onto a few long lost golden tablets, who would you call to haul them to the Temple?:laughing8:

If I hired the people I've seen and met at CRE and treated them as CRE's famous for, I'd have metal detectors and guards all over the place too.
