The England family sounds like the old barons who ran the coal mines back in the day.
Maybe they'll even start printing script (their own money) for you to use at their establishments, which are many. I can see it now--drivers will be required to spend script in England stores, stores where they have to pay the equivalent of five bucks for a pack of gum and 100 bucks for a carton of cigarettes. Maybe a pic of Joe Smith'll be on the coupons. If so, it should be a pic of him being on crack, as one would have to be on crack to want to allow the England jackboot to press his temple into the ground.

As with many others, I am also considering a change in careers to enter into the OTR Trucking industry. I filled out an application with CRE and at this point have a scheduled start date for CDL training. Their is no doubt whatsoever the nay's far outway the yea's!
Being in my mid 30's, a former business owner and loaded with quite a bit of useless management experience I do wonder if there isn't a hint of truth on both sides of the fence. All things are subject to our efforts and attitude. Though it does appear CRE does not set a great atmosphere or environment for the cream to rise to the top. Nonetheless as I have read 17 pages of this forum topic along with others, I can see a sliver of light at the end of the tunnel in a few places through a small minority of comments.
So now I ask a simply question of whomever is willing to answer with a clear direct answer! It is Obvious to me the reason CRE is financially succesful, they are profiting from the dispair of society's underpriveledged. This is sad but does not make them any different than hundreds of industries or large corportations.
It is also apparent to me through my research that one could make a success out of CRE, IF......They can get through the first 3 months of what I can only liken to my experience as a young Marine recruit....
But here is the question I pose.......going back to CRE and there taking advantage of the disadvantaged, or put another way, there very easy entry level opportunities they offer to the general public.......
IF not CRE than where? I have yet to read from any of the forums including this one clear directives as to where one should go to get a start in the honorable profession of OTR driving.
Who gives people the chance to work hard, earn a good living and still remain somewhat available (at the least monthly) to their families....
I would also like to know if possible from some of the experienced drivers on this site, Why the Lease program is so lousy? Please give me a breakdown if possible.
The CRE site in writing shows an average breakdown of potential earnings, not gauranteed but yet the math adds up and the breakdown is practical...
So why is this formula so out of reach?
Finally being a former business man, I would like to know what level of discipline each of authors of these horror stories possessed......I come to a simple conclusion and want to be proved wrong. Did a majority of the complaintants think this was a get rich quick opportunity? Did they lend to the lease program the discipling necessary as in any new business, which is trimming the fat, tightening the belt, working hard, pressing forward and understanding it takes a few years before profits are attained? Though in this case a living must be earned NO DOUBT, but every business requires Capital investment Right?
So are the fee's they are charging out of line? How about the Cap on fuel cost, this would seem in and of itself to be a huge advantage over say going and leasing my own Rig and paying modern deisel prices......
So I am full of curious questions and trying to gain from some of the great insights that have been offered on this site, as well as keeping in mind some the the post's have been one sided and unrealistic....
I want to enter this career, I want to provide for my family, I want to be proud of an employer who is mutually proud of my labors, intellect and dedication, any companies in the south who have easy start up policies, no experience requirements, O/O possiblities (without it being forced) etc.....
Semper Fi PJW....
Who are you working for currently? -
I don't understand why some of you aren't getting the obvious. Let me review how the REAL world works, as that is the world I live in, not some fantasy world where all trucking companies are equal and treat their drivers well. Yeah, you wish, and so do I.
People don't quit good jobs, at least not at 100-150% rates. It really is as simple as that. That is true in the US economy, at least. I think I read here somewhere not long ago that CRE "wants" turnover of about 200%. Nothing like a nice, safe, secure job at C.R. England, eh?
I have to go back to NASA once again. I've often wondered how many people have quit NASA in the last ten years. Then I wonder how many drivers have quit C.R. England in the last ten years. Think they're about the same? Let's bet on it. All those people who've quit CRE in the past aren't a bunch of #########, I'm sure. Well, some are, but most aren't. They're people who shoot straight, and I'd listen to them if they gave me advice. I don't have to get their advice, though. I can just watch their behavoir and follow the herd. The herd that went with CRE and then quit in droves. I'm not arrogant enough to believe it won't be any different for me if I go to work there. No, I don't think I'm the messiah or a miracle worker who's gonna be the hero who succeeds at CRE as a driver. I know I'm just like those other guys and will be burned just like they did if I foolishly go to work at CRE. Some look for the sliver of light to talk himself into going with an outfit like CRE, while I look for the sliver of darkness to talk myself out of going with such an outfit. And there's a lot of darkness at CRE, boy.
Yeap, take all those testimonies from former CRE drivers with a grain of salt if you want. I'll stand back and watch what unfolds. But I don't have to watch, as I already know what is going to happen when a guy gets a job at CRE. It'll be the same thing that has been happening at CRE for the last ten years or longer. Sooner or later any guy hiring on there is gonna be cleaning his truck out, and CRE will be advertising the job he just vacated somewhere.
I learned through trucking that one should follow the herd's past movements. This is nature's way, and usually works out for the best. But for some guys, a million drivers telling 'em that CRE sucks still wouldn't convince them. They still have to go to work there and find out the hard way that 1 million voices are far more than a quorum. They have to stick their own fingers in fans and get 'em wacked off before they are convinced one shouldn't stick his fingers in fans. I have to see only one guy with one missing finger and I'm convinced that fans are dangerous. Today, one sensible guy tells me CRE sucks, and I'm convinced. Of course, about 2500 have told me that, so I'm much more than convinced. "CRE sucks" is now a universal law one can place beside the law of gravity.
Death before C.R. England. I'd only work at CRE in the first few days after doomsday after everyone has dropped dead. I'll play hopskotch with my truck as I drive between boulders amid all the rubble from the exploded earth. -

I figured it out. It's what I call "Don Lupre" syndrome.
We all want to make top dollar. CR England tells us we can.
The sad fact is it is nearly inpossible to lease a truck from them and make great money. -
If a driver COULD make money driving for CRE, YOU wouldn't be making money there. This is because everybody and everybody's uncle would be driving there, and would have been since like 1980. There'd be no room at the Inn for little ol' you.
But there has always been plenty of room at the Inn. There will always be plenty of room at the Inn. Why is this? You and I both know exactly why.
Yeah, Lupree syndrome is a good way to describe it. Like you'd see Lupree on the informercials if his system really worked. Just by seeing him on the tube, I know he's full of BS. Good jobs are never advertised, as there is no need to advertise them. BS jobs grow on trees, however, and always need new suckers to fill them. This can be applied to trucking jobs, you'd better believe it. Or anything else that may provide you with income.
The capitalist system is rigged. It is always easy for money to leave your pocket, but a royal ##### to convince money to find its way into your pocket. Anyone who tells you he's found a way to easy money is somebody you need to stay far away from. -
My husband is on the road, his first 4 days driving for cr england with his trainner, he's getting paid 50 dolars every day, and they offered him to become a trainner if he makes it ok trought his trainning, and also something about leasing a truck for 6 months...recently I have read so many bad comments about this company, please can anyone tell me the truth? the last thing that we need is to get in bankrupcy because of their lease program and all the other things that I read about the company, my husband hasn't sign anything yet, he'll have to decide after 3 weeks of this first trainning on the road, please what can we do?info, experiences any advice?
.
Thanks everybody. -
####. I wish you could have come here maybe a month ago. This site could have helped steer you away from the scum-bag outfit that is known as C.R. England. Well, I guess it's not too late. You've not signed any lease purchase contracts yet. Thank goodness for that.
Now. What to do? First, I'd read some of the posts here on the subject. I think then you'll have a pretty good idea on what to do. Or, more importantly, what NOT to do.
One thing I'd definitely NOT do is get into C.R. England's lease purchase program. You see, these guys want people who are one or two paychecks from the street to sign up for this idiocy. Actually, it's pretty clever, at least from CRE's point of view. When they take you to the cleaners later, you'll be so broke you won't be able to afford a lawyer to fight 'em over what is yours.
Yeah, companies like CRE are nothing but vultures who peck the unsuspecting, desperate common person until he keels over dead.
Next, if you are thinking of going with England's lease purchase program, go ahead and get a bankruptcy lawyer NOW so you don't have to get one later. You'll definitely need him in about 5 months or so. It'll be a very lean Christmas if you go this route today. Trust me on this. Look at consumer websites devoted to ripoffs and read the testimonies there. One site that is really good is at "double-u double-u double-u dot ripoffreport dot com". Or do a search like "c.r. england lease purchase ripoff" on Yahoo. Do a search at ripoffreport for Swift while you're at it, and then do a search for Crete. It's interesting that Crete has only two reports, while a company that is only five times larger will have 25 times more complaints. It becomes obvious that companies are not created equal. They're definitely not run equally, nor do they treat drivers equally well. C.R. England isn't even at the bottom of the barrel. That outfit is in the mud below the barrel among all the worms and mold.
There are testimonies all over the web from people who've made the CRE lease purchase mistake. One guy once drove for three months for CRE on this plan and put ZERO in the bank that whole time. He lost pretty much everything. People will say "it was HIS fault", but brush that argument aside. I know some guys who went with companies like CRE, lost their butts, and went with other companies (such as Crete), drove the very same way, and succeeded beautifully. Yeah, it's the company, no matter what anyone tells you.
I think OOIDA can help you find a bankruptcy lawyer. But you won't need one, as you're NOT going to go this lease purchase route with CRE, right? Don't be stupid and go doing that.
You have been warned.
Best of luck.
