    exactly my point

very few of these people have "old timers", but there are some that have been there for years

i cant figure that one out, but it happens

but these are companies that are out to make a profit and they look at providing you with a $100,000 truck as a benefit that you should be happy with, with no credit check, no money down

you may disagree with them, or disagree with how they do it, but if you understand their approach, you wont get so frustrated with them

i think thats the biggest problem people have with these companies, they are expecting them to do what others wont do, and are the loudest to complain

i hear wonderful things about Maverick, but try starting out there, its not easy to get in to, so what is one to do?

go to swift, england, schneider, jbhunt or whoever

it may not be as pretty, you may feel you are getting abused, but you will almost always be accepted, no matter what (cre doesnt accept any recent drugs or criminal activity) others may be more lenient

Three people per truck? What kind of insanity is that?

Metal detectors drivers have to pass through to get to the room with the locked doors and locked, sliding glass windows?

Sounds like drivers are a lower life form to insiders at England, don't you think?

Sliding glass windows. I've seen those at some companies I've worked for. At these places, I had to go to a sliding window to talk to my dispatcher. If he wanted to ignore me for a little while before lending me an ear, he could do that, so said windows were useful in that respect.

Sliding windows are useful for dispatchers in other ways, too. Some drivers have been known to grab their dispatchers and box their jowels, so we have the sliding windows. However, I've heard of drivers grabbing dispatchers and pulling them through those little windows, so they're not 100% efffective.

Same for locked doors. These keep angry drivers away from the throats of idiotic dispatchers.

I'd use these windows as a barometer today. If a company has sliding windows separating drivers from dispatchers, I'd not work for it. Locked doors, sure. That's understandable. Some drivers will steal or pull funny stuff inside if they get the chance. Little sliding glass windows that shut me out? No way.

Happened with me with my second trainer. Poor kid couldn't shift at all and because the trainer wouldn't let me sleep on the bottom bunk, I got beat up pretty good. Two trainees and one trainer. Thank god the kid burned out in a day or two and got off the truck.

I thought it was/is illegal to allow one to sleep upstairs while the rig's moving down the road at speed? If it's not illegal, then it must be against company policy. If the one upstairs isn't wearing a seatbelt, that's a long way down to the dashboard if the driver has to slam on the brakes.

It's hard enough to sleep in a moving rig while on the dowstairs bunk. The upper bunk is about 4 feet higher above the center of gravity. No way would I be able to sleep in that swaying ride. May as well sleep outside on the catwalk in a hammock.

i started out and CRE, i did pretty good

i would recommend it to someone who thinks on their feet

if you are a slouch, i would avoid it because you will be taken advantage of

    where else?

honestly, i couldnt answer that, but i am not one of those who "slam cre" people

it has positive and negative, my goodness, if it was as bad as people say, NO ONE WOULD WORK THERE

but they do take advantage of people

problem is, i am finding, all of them do

I hear horror stories about Prime, but i have spoken to some Prime drivers who have been there for years and love it

again, if you want to sit on your duff and expect gold, you will get taken advantage of

if you can look at how this opportunity can benefit you, then you can make it

i would never do the company driver thing, i would only do a lease, but i have a friend who i would never tell him to lease, he is safer doing the company thing

these are decisions only you can make

Spare us the bull here, man. No one does work there, at least not for long. Sure, there are those ultra-rare birds who do make it work at CRE, but I know plenty of great drivers who weren't slouches who got burned by the England boys. Nope, these drivers never sat on their duffs expecting gold. They could probably drive both you and me under the table they could go at it so hard. Well, they couldn't make it happen at CRE, so I know I won't either. And judging by England's turnover rate, many a driver learns this fact the hard way each and every day.

Back when England's ad was a flower-pot fixture in the Salt Lake Tribune help-wanteds, those guys would advertise 364 days a year. This is because so many drivers quit 'em, week in and week out. Considering some of these guys were some of the best drivers around yet still couldn't get it done there, I'd say England was and is a dead-end to be avoided. If one could really make it there by working hard, many a hard-working driver would still be there making the gravy. But you and I both know they're not.

i dont advertise for england, shucks, i dont even like them, but i can definitely say i made money there

why your friends didnt is not for me to say one way or the other

i spoke my opinion, if it seems to be bull to you, you need to learn some type of manners when conversing with people
