    HOWDY

    I went with CR England. Can you believe that, Tip? Had to. Bad credit, criminal record. They don't check, of course. Conclusions for those desperate enough to work for CRE:

    1. DO NOT LEASE.
    2. DO NOT MESS UP ON BACKING.
    3. DO NOT COMPLAIN; ONLY MAKES THINGS WORSE.
    4. BE PREPARED TO STAY OUT FOR A MONTH OR MORE.
    5. DO NOT EXPECT FANTASTIC PAY.
    6. QUIT AS SOON AS FEASIBLE AND FIND A SMALL FAMILY COMPANY.
    7. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, BRING ANYTHING VALUABLE TO THEIR SCHOOL.

    For me, just starting out, I don't give a ****. I'm used to no paycheck and being stuck at home. But most guys can't hack it. Especially if they get a rotten trainer, which you will. Remember: training period is a great time to take up reading, if you don't already!

    ~~~~ OK let me try it:
    (I tried to line up the income/expense columns hope it works)
    150800 miles a year, or 2900 a week
    .............................income: 2900 x $ 0.90 = $2,610 per week
    now here I'm guessing:
    about $600 fuel expense reimbursement, minus
    about $1,450 fuel expense
    (2,900miles/6mpg x $3 per gallon = $1,450) or $850 expense
    less the 7cpm general reserve 203 expense
    less variable mileage pay (14cpm x2900m) 406 expense
    less weekly truck payment 459 expense
    less insurance (varies) 140 expense.
    Total Expense $ 2,058.00
    I rounded a few numbers, but I get:
    $2,610 income
    - 2,058 expenses
    $ 552 income before taxes?
    Someone please tell me I did this wrong?
    (158,000) not 150800 typo mistake miles a year,
    or 2900 a week
    .............................
    income: 2900 x $ 0.90 = $2,610 per week
    fuel surcharge start at 1.25 per gallon
    if this was a perfect set up this is the amount that should be expensed by the contractor. The overage should be reimbursed as fuel surcharge.
    My understanding is that fuel surcharge is paid on milage based on 6.1 miles per gallon.
    due diligence
    what if the trip is mapped 1200 miles by the company
    .for some reason it actually takes 1230miles.
    .what if there is a detour or a road block and another 20 miles needs to be added.
    what if the truck doesnt average 6.1 miles per gallon
    what if the truck needs to idle in a truck stop in the middle of winter , i assume a few more gallons there.
    just a tought
    adventure111 ...
    Thanks for correcting my approach to the fuel surcharge.
    no big deal, but I used your 2,900 miles per week times 52 weeks = 150800 miles per year. Anyway, I don't think many drivers will work straight through for a year. So that number may be overstated.
    Truckers, how many miles do you do in a year?
    So if the driver/lessee is reimbursed for fuel as you say, that will add about $200 a week to the bottom line, or $752 a week before taxes.
    Your right, fuel expense is understated for the reasons you mentioned
    (due diligence), and deisel will probably get more expensive. Ouch.
    Either way, it looks like a driver could expect to make about $500 to $750 per week, before taxes, on this lease. But then there's all the fuel consumption variables, and they seem to only increase the fuel expense.
    It seems on a lease it costs the driver about $600 to take a week off. That's the truck payment ($459.00) plus insurance ($140.00).
    I have an accounting degree, so I just have to run the numbers.
    Say, truckers, how many miles do you do in a year?
    You did good, but you also have to pay for tolls and I forget how much the company holds back per mile for a maintance account, I think you can be held back almost 10 cents per mile for added costs.
    i have just went back to the CR ENGLAND SOLO LEASE PROGRAM site to review their program!
    I can see they have made some changes!!!
    now they are showing the projections; actual income for solo driver
    Weekly Mileage3,250
    instead of 2900
    Annual Mileage
    169,000
    last week 6.1 paid mpg
    this week proposal
    Fuel # 6.3 paid mpg w/ England Fuel Cap of $1.251
    .2mpg difference
    i guess this week the truck are performing better than last week
    IF A DRIVER AVERAGES 50MILES PER HOUR
    NON STOP ISNT THAT 65HOURS
    PS .lets also assume we load while we run
    just stating the way i see it
    For all the guys who just can't keep from rushing into a burning theater no matter how loud we yell, hold off on going into a lease right now. Wait a year or even 18 months to see what is going to happen with diesel prices. From what I'm reading on the news, diesel could be 5 bucks a gallon by next March. If you get locked into a contract, you may not get enough of a surcharge to survive long.
    These aren't called "Fleece Operator" deals for nothing.
    I don't know why these guys are getting slandered...you can't hold a business accountable for the character of its employees! I drive for these guys and I haven't had any more complaints than the next guy. I'm making pretty good money and I like my job. I know this is a forum for haters, but I argue that this one isn't so deserved.
