Well atleast he is just loosing miles and not having to pay for the actual repairs.
That is one positive.
Hope he can keep his truck on the road.
Just fyi I am sure he knows this but only use ultra low sulfur deisel better known as ULSD in that truck that could be one of his problems if he has been using the wrong fuel.
By using the regular diesel fuel it makes the regen system work harded because it will need to regen the particilate filter more often.
And if the detroit shop finds out that he is using the wrong fuel they can void the warranty and make him pay for the repairs out of his pocket.
It will say on the pump if is the ULSD if there is no ULSD sticker on the pump then go somewere else to get fuel.

Yes he only uses the ULSD. He has actually mentioned that numerous times LOL and their is a bright sticker inside the truck that states to only use this also. One of the other guys he drove with also leased one of these trucks and had the same problems. It is not just my husbands. I would think freightliner or detroit would work quickly to get this resolved but what do I know?! I hear the newer version (Cascadia) is suppose to be the improved regen system and the kinks are suppose to be all tuned but I have heard from drivers that they also are having issues and alot of time at the shops not driving. I just wish my husbands would stay fixed for a few months so we could get a cushion in the bank LOL. Maybe too much to hope for.
Thanks anyway for the information. -
After reading so many of these horror stories, I am quite conerned. Being new to this industry, and possibly having no other choice in whitch company to go to, due to being fresh out of driving school and a 4 year old DUI. I am wondering, is there another option? The locals in my area are not hiring. Should I just hang my CDL on the wall and throw darts at it? I know all companies have thier horrors, but it seems like CRE has the worst! WHAT SHOULD I DO? I live in the panhandle of Fl. as well, and a lot of companies won't hire from this area. I am just looking to get some experience so that I can get a GOOD driving job down the road. I can use ALL the advice I can get!

I'd suggest that you go to the
Questions From New Drivers
and/or
Experienced Truckers' Advice
threads and read and/or start a new thread in one, or both
of those areas. I think you'll get better results and answers there.
As you've probably already discovered, now isn't the best time to be
entering the truckin' industry, and your location isn't going to help.
Local operations usually require a year or more OTR experience
to be considered for those jobs, but I suppose there are exceptions.
With so many experienced drivers seeking employment, truckin' companies
have a glut of applications to choose from now a daze.
Things aren't in the favor of newBees at this time with many of the
better truckin' companies, especially with a D.U.I.
Not to say there isn't ANY hope, just that the pickins are slim.
Would you consider relocating to a better hiring area?

Not that I gonna bash everything you say. That would take to long. But, in 2003 the only state, prepass would work in was Oregon. Because it was given to them free of usage charges. I worked for CR for 3years and 2months. 1999 thru 2002 They are a crappy company but b4 you post a bunch of BS you should you should make sure its close to correct.
-
Also, I noticed that you said that you drove for CRE for "3years and 2 months" and then I noticed in your profile that you are a "student driver"? So which is it? -
Might do you to get into a company that may not be your cup-o-tea, but that is willing to hire you. If you wait to long to start driving then you will have to take a refresher course before you even go through the company's mentor-driver program or whatever they call it. DO your time there and then go looking for someplace else. Most companies want experience and they really dont care where you got it at. Every company is gonna be on the crappy side for newbies--that is the way that they figure out who is gonna make the grade or who is gonna get sent home--
Get yourself hired and then do your time and then who knows, maybe you will like it and maybe you will move on to something else. A lot of how these drivers that have been treated badly is due to their attitudes not all due to the company(although a lot is) Personally I dont have many complaints about the places that I have driven for, I have not left any due to the way I was treated--I have left all of them to move up the pay scale, See I can take attitude from the company, I just blow that off--but if the grass is greener(as in money) then I am not against moving on. -
the pre-pass monthly charge is/was $12.95 as of last yr.for a single O/O
-
Does prepass work in Conn? Also to add,Most CRE company drivers are happy
working for them.
