Since we are on the subject England charges me about $38 a day to have a student on the truck. So basically I have to pay CRE to be a trainer.
I'm sorry, but why anyone would put up with this nonsensical, undiluted BS is beyond me. Sheer foolishness and idiocy.drvrtech77 and Big Don Thank this. -

My point being there are several avenues for obtaining your own insurance and because of Federal Regulations any L/O can provide their own insurance so long as it meets coverage requirements.
Citing one middle insurer to justify England's price isAfterShock Thanks this. -
When I was a trainer in the Western Regional fleet my DM would refer to my truck as a team truck whenever I had a student. If I couldn't keep up with the time sensitive loads he would give me solo freight.
So I would drink about 2 energy drinks and two 5 hour shots so I could drive the graveyard shift. I know that's bad but I had to do what I had to do.
A funny side note is this other driver I swapped loads with two weeks ago is going back to training students again. He bought his truck about 3 months ago and quit training because he doesn't have that variable mileage payment anymore. But every other paycheck he gets is negative. He said once his truck is paid off he is going to Landstar. We are going to take the phase 1 trainer class together.AfterShock Thanks this. -
They charge you to train a student.. I am in the wrong business...

"But every other paycheck he gets is negative."
I will never lose my motivation to copy and paste things like this... this AFTER the guy isn't paying the .14 cpm.... holy smokes.
Yeah, it's the DRIVER'S fault, right? I don't think so.Dewey120 Thanks this. -

Paying for a trainee ALMOST makes sense because they generate miles and income for your truck. You'd be paying your wife or team member...
But still coming up negative boggles my mind.AfterShock Thanks this. -

OK, but my wife wasn't going to work for free.. and if I'm teaming with you, I don't work for free. I agree that it's weird... but CRE spreads the cost around just enough to where they don't pay much of anything.
AfterShock Thanks this.
