I got my cdl with cr england in 2013, I have heard it has gotten better since then.
Stop getting worked up about the little things. You are getting your cdl and training even beyond just what you need to know to pass the test. It is in their best interest to train you so that you do not wrap their company trucks around a tree. That is the important thing.
The Dallas motel I had to stay in was a joke. Rats on the loose everywhere, the section of door where the doorknob was supposed to be was completely gone. A roommate that never took a shower even before he became a trucker. None of that stuff mattered though. You are getting paid to learn instead of paying someone else to teach you the minimum needed ot get your cdl. I was only making $500 on a good week. Stick it out till you fulfill the contract, then you will have a solid year of trucking experience that other companied will fight over instead of jumping from truck to truck. -
I made it 42 years! Retired in 06.lovesthedrive and Truckermania Thank this.

Obviously they play this game with new recruits to make them feel beholding to the company.
How long do you have to stay to fulfill contract? -
Until you no longer are doing the fleet lease. Pay off the truck and keep it, thats when CR recognizes you as a employee of the company (according to my trainer)

Excellent post. I think $125,000 will get you a 4 year degree at a mediocre college. Then you can become a school teacher and make 40-50 grand per year and pay off student loan debt for the remainder of your life. Truck Driving School will "cost" 3-4 thousand dollars. Usually "paid off" within a year with the typical Company sponsored CDL training. You will start making a paycheck, not a big one.....but a check, around week 4. NOT YEAR 4. There are WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE that go to Truck Driving School without doing ANY RESEARCH whatsoever. Just look at the turnover rate and whiney negative reviews that abound on the interwebs. The Truck Driving lifestyle, not job, is not for everybody. In fact, it isn't for most people. But..... If you have done your homework, prepare yourself for a lenghy learning curve, (usually a couple of years), you can make a pretty decent living in this industry. OK.....rant/lesson/lecture is over. You may return to your regularly scheduled programming

Two years? I think anyone whom is truly open to learning will find that they are always learning about this job. The learning is ongoing
-
Referring to the initial learning curve. Learning to do the job efficiently. Clock management, trip planning, backing efficiency, learning the Interstates, shipper/receiver ins and outs. I was NOT saying that you learn everything you need to know in 2 years. I think you know what I was saying!lovesthedrive Thanks this.
