I currently considering making a career change into the trucking industry. I have not gotten my CDL nor have I have completed any type of training. All that I have is a love and respect for these massive machines that are essentially the backbone to our country in regards to transportation. I have been doing some research and have come across ads for C.R. England and their training program; which evidently is currently free. I have not seen many good things about the company and wanted to get some of your opinions on the matter. Any feedback -- good or bad -- would be appreciated.

"I have not seen many good things about the company...."
So you're saying you've seen something good about CRE? That's a shocker!! -
They'll put a sticker on your truck saying you're a pro when they swindle you into a lease. I guess that's sort of good in a delusional way...
-
HotH2o and DirtyBob: your responses are pretty much in line with everything I have seen about them. You mind if I ask what are some of the things that make them soo bad.....I have heard about the swindling, the lies from the recruiters and such as well

I haven't worked for CRE so I can't speak from personal experience but all you have to do is google "CR England reviews" and you'll get more info than you can handle. I have not read anything good about the company. Especially from newbies. Check them out on Ripoffreport.com. All the things I've read about CRE basically say you won't drive for them unless you sign a lease and even then you'll be working for free. If you sign up with them, get your CDL and leave the next day!

Nothing is free in trucking, read the fine print before making any committments and ask questions.Critters is right, you have to sign a yr contract.Only then will a trucking company pay for your schooling. You brake that contract then you have to pay for the schooling.Don't know exactly how it works.Maybe the longer you're there and quit before the yr is up,you may only have to pay a part of it.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
You won't find many with anything good to say about CRE . Plenty of good companies far better will train you.
