CRE is a training company to get your CDL and then move on. They seem to be increasing their amount of company drivers. My last six students all got company positions with CRE. 3/6 though have left CRE now since they found local work were they live. So if your a green horn and really do not have any other options then CRE might be right for you.

I have ran into a couple of company drivers that have been there for 10+ years and they seem pretty happy. CRE has some good dedicated routes for company drivers that pay well. One of my former students does a LA to Seattle and back run and his gross check is $1250 a week plus he is home every Thursday and Friday. Another does the local intermodal and is home every night and his gross check is about $1100. As a company driver you do get basic medical benefits plus paid vacation.

Del Taco Breakfast 3 bucks, lunch under 5 bucks, Dinner 5 bucks, and gain about 30 lbs per year. No one will want to slipseat thats for sure. Beans beans the magicial fruit, keeps a smile on you face and lot lizzards away from your truck.

Food for thought from the How to eat on the roads written by pull my finger charlie.

Ive lived the England nightmare..I've posted my experience with them many times on this board.

There is sooo much negative information on here about CRE and very little positive.

If you choose to goto SLC, take plenty of money for food (save a little for a bus ticket home) anti bacterial wipes for the 10 man dorm rooms, and winter coat and boots for time on the pad.

Never ever lease with CRE unless you plan on teaming. Remember it's a lease not a lease purchase (so someone telling you they are leasing and paying off the truck, is paying for it twice (and probably lying to you)).

I would HIGHLY advise not to goto CRE (especially as you stated, your looking for a paycheck? I was with them for 6 mos, received 2 checks, training in cat program and one week my student and I ran 7500 miles. I got 1500$ he got 750$)

Don't be blinded by promised false hope! If I'm remembering correctly, even there website says, earn from 0$ to 175,000$.. It's ALOT closer to ZERO net dollars.

    Good luck!

30 pounds/year does sound about right. After 4 years of being OTR I am applying for a local job now. One reason is my kids and the second is to get my butt back in the gym.
