A chicken came home to roost!! C.R. England for years stole and embezzeled millions of dollars from drivers, now they had 1.3 mill stolen from them. I say how does it feel! Too bad the dumb crook didn't have enough sense to flee to a non extradition country

A Syracuse man is charged in federal court with stealing approximately $1.3 million from his employer.
Nathan Lee Kapp, 36, deposited more than $10,000 in his personal bank account every week when he worked as a controller at West Valley City-based C.R. England Trucking, according to a complaint filed this week in U.S. District Court.
He stole cash that students sent to the company as fees to attend trucking school from January 2007 through this month, court documents state. He also embezzled and deposited cash from packages that were mailed and shipped by private, commercial interstate carriers, according to the documents.
Kapp didn't record the cash he embezzled on the company's books in order to cover up his scheme, the documents state. He allegedly used the stolen money to buy cars and real estate and to make home improvements, according to the documents.
An America First Credit Union employee once questioned Kapp about his large deposits ' $5,000 to $20,000 ' and Kapp told the employee he owned a business selling beach towels and sunglasses, the documents state. He said the business often used cash only.
He is charged with one count of mail fraud and four counts of money laundering.
Kapp made his initial appearance on Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Warner. He could receive a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison if convicted of mail fraud. Each of the four money laundering counts is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

What an idiot. If you're gonna steal, then at least be smart about it by NOT depositing the funds in a Federal backed bank. Good thinking for leaving a paper trail that lead to your arrest, genius.

I was originally going to comment on CR England's lease purchase program and how it steals from drivers. However, if some poor soul signs a legal contract without reading the document in it's entirety, or seeking legal advice before signing a legal contract, then you really can't blame the company.

A controller at C.R. England Trucking Co. was ordered held in jail Wednesday on charges he embezzled$1.3 million in cash paid by driving-school students.
U.S. Magistrate Paul Warner found Nathan Lee Kapp, of Syracuse, was a danger to the community and ordered him held pending a mental health evaluation.
Kapp was charged with five felony charges of mail fraud and money laundering for allegedly taking cash that students had paid for tuition at C.R. England truck-driving schools in Utah, California, Texas and Indiana.
In an affidavit filed with the charges, IRS Special Agent Gregory Stuart said Kapp was the controller in the recruiting, training and safe driving department at C.R. England's Salt Lake City headquarters. Part of his job was to reconcile the cash received from students with receipts, but instead, he started depositing it into a personal account beginning in early 2007, Stuart said.
"During my investigation I have learned that, since 2007, Kapp has made hundreds of cash deposits into his personal bank account at America First Credit Union," Stuart said.
When a credit union employee questioned him about the deposits, Kapp said the money came from selling beach towels and sunglasses, the agent said.
Kapp allegedly used the money to help purchase and make improvements to a home in Syracuse; and bought a 2010 Lexus ES 350 for $40,000, a 2006 Acura TSX for $32,164 and a 2008 Infiniti QX56 with a credit union loan and payments from his account there.
Kapp confessed to the embezzlement during an interview with the IRS agent Tuesday at the company's offices, according to court documents.
The government is seeking forfeiture of the Syracuse home, the cars and $40,000 in cash from the credit union account.
Kapp didn't report the embezzled money as income, the IRS agent said.
