HOS rules are mandated BECAUSE of the carriers and mega-carriers.
Prior to government intervention, the carriers ALWAYS treated the driver worse than what we have today.
The problems with pay and safety has NEVER been with problem drivers. Instead, it is and always will be with the carrier / mega-carriers. THEY are the problem!! THEY are the reason for all of the mandates and government rulings...... to essentially protect us (the driver) from them (the carrier) and to provide a safe environment for the other travelers of the road.
NOW..... if the government (Labor Commission) could be a part and provide the drivers with some sort of respectable pay for our duties and requirements.... things could be fair for all.

I like the way you think.But unfortunately that'll never happen far as better pay is concerned.Government pays megas subsidy for each driver/student they hired for this job creation crap and they keep the money even if say the applicant lasted a whole week.So really I thing companies would rather you quit so they can hire another sucker for their wall of shame.How many carriers ask drivers to come back.How many actually have an open door policy and will defend the driver?
