Hey guys/gals,
I am in the process of picking up a 2001 9200i that needs motor work and perhaps a motor. Have you all ever heard of someone swapping a C12 out with a C15? I have a friend who has a C15 with a marine cam and new turbo. He says it has 125k on it. It is supposed to be complete with ECM. He said the pin connectors should be the same going to the cab. What do you all think. If I would need to swap out all kinds of stuff it may not be worth it.
Thanks
Joe
C12 to C15 swap into a 9200i? Can it be done and would it be worth it?

I don't think it will physically fit. The 9400I have a longer hood and longer frame beyond the firewall to accommodate the bigger bore engines.

Call a dealer and ask if the c15 was available in that model and if they were any different than the model you have. Ask the shop not the salesman . I bet it can be done but I also bet it would be easier to just swap for another c12.

Whether or not it "fits" is going to be the least of your worries. Is the transmission and the rest of the drive line rated for the increased horsepower and torque that the larger engine is going to produce? If not, those components will have to be swapped out too...

Great point!
