Not sure if NO or NC but it could stick. What problem are you experiencing?
-
The valve is normally closed but they usually don't stick. Most of the time the diaphragm tears and lets coolant flow all the time.
A rebuild kit is around $120 last time I bought one from Cat.E model Cat man Thanks this. -
High water temps and put a fuel temp wire on it and it would go up to 230°F in a pull quite quick. Fuel temp wire made the problem much more noticable!

Probably not the cause of your heating. Remove the condenser, CAC and blow out the radiator with compressed air.
Thermostats ok? Fan hub not slipping?
Fan should come on at 215 degrees.E model Cat man Thanks this. -
Radiator, air to air, and condenser have all been cleaned. Everything fan related is fucnioning propely. It burns alot of fuel too, like 3.5mpg is all it gets, makes 55psi of boost but is sick as a dog!

How long have you had this truck? Did someone get into the ECM?

When was the last time the overhead was run?
What rpm are you cruising at, what rpm are you shifting at? Lots of idle time?E model Cat man Thanks this. -
Just did it with zero improvment, idles very little, have tried driving it all different ways with best results driving it hard and splitting the 18 spd at 1500 in hard pull and upshifting at 1800. it has the heavy haul programming in it and use to work great. Had pittsburg power on it for a week and the fan never. Hardly shut off when it was loaded and only on #2 setting. Has new thermostats as well.

Had heavy haul program installed a year ago and worked great till this spring when it was slow and sat some..thought it was just the left over winter cut fuel at first.
