I would still replace both harnesses on the head, no matter what "super cat" said. I learned it the hard way after thousands in repairs, tows, and downtime.
After that my head problems were cured and I moved on to other issues.

Lol, yah thats the plan. I feel like it is the root of the problem and cat will eventually end up replacing it anyways. However, If the ecm cures the problem for now I will still replace those harnesses when I get the truck back.

lucar, I agree with you completely. with the harness problems on these and the age, I would think that would do before anything else, would you not think so?

Got a call from the cat dealer, they can not get the actuators to function properly. They tried all new actuators on the cylinders that weren't responding with no change, tried new oil sensor for actuators and a bunch of other small things. I kept insisting on the wiring harness but they said there is no way it would fail without a voltage code... They have been in touch with Cat over this and Cat keeps telling them that if it isn't logging codes to not worry about it, lol. To me it seems that if the actuators aren't working on 2 or 3 cylinders aren't those cylinders going to have much higher cylinder pressure? and be more likely to blow a head gasket?

On another note, I had them check the fuel pressure and it is only showing 74psi at idle, 85 at high idle. I did however remove a home made 1/2" thick shim before taking the truck to them because I was worried about the fuel pressure being too high with it so ill let them put the proper high pressure spring kit in and see what it does.

They are telling me there is nothing else they can do as far as actuators go, so I guess I will be changing the harness myself.

So they said the actuators aren't doing their thing correctly and there isn't anything they(cat house) can do.....?

What happened with their bs test ECM ....?

Tell them to change the whole harness now while they have it opened up...!

They said test ecm made no differance.

Don't ask , tell them to do the harness .

If your keeping the truck it's going to have to be changed eventually .....

Sounds like youre at the wrong Cat house.
Assuming you're not under warranty why not change the harness?
Have they suggested any head issues? VVA set + oil pump, test ecm , no on the harness, what's left? Sensors or head.
Didn't you state that the problem is intermittent?
