Currently in the middle of an in-chassis on my 600hp c15 acert. Liner heights are all measuring between .002 and .003 except one. #3 is at .004. These values are a little low, but if I use the thinner spacer plate available form CAT (.003 thinner) all liners will be within spec except #3, which would then sit at .007, just .001 above CAT's recommended range. Anyone bolted their motor together with any of these numbers? Really trying to avoid removing and cutting the block...

I could be wrong, but I believe the counter bores can be cut in-frame.

How are you holding the spacer plate down to check protrusion

Unless you want to take it apart again, you definitely want to have the counterbores machined for shims. Cat liners should be at .0055" to .0065" if you want it to last a long time. I cut them all the time!
