Had my cat c15 mxs rebuilt with a platinum overhaul Las may. Truck ran great all summer and halfway through the winter started breaking rocker arms. 3rd one in a month and they always go while the engine break is being used What would be the cause. Is there a possible updated rocker arm. I'm at a loss here. Why all of a sudden am I breaking rocker when I never had problems before
    Thanks. Yves

Does it have a weird kind of shimmy when the Jakes are on? Reason I ask, I have the same motor and had an overhead run. Before, Jakes on, no shimmy. After, shimmy. Found out there are 2 different thickness washers on the Jakes and if they are put back on wrong, it causes extra resistance which could break the rocker arms. Might be something else, but it might be something to check out.

The mxs doesn't have different washers for the Jakes. If you had a platinum kit installed at a dealer they should have checked for any rocker arm up dates. Did you have the valves reset after your first oil change? If the Jake setting gap was set to large it will increase cylinder pressure while jaking . Causing the rocker arms to break.

    Al. Roper Thanks this.

Valves were re adjusted always breaking exhaust rocker. Cat saying must be a bad batch of rockers but I doubt it

Over reving while using jake can cause them to brake also.

I don't take any of my trucks over 1800-1900 rpm on the jake ever. Never had a top end issue in 25 years either.

The truck never sees over 1700 rpm on jakes. It is always lugged under power.

My MXS hasn't seen 1700. 1500-1550 bout the max. But I have a10 SPD, 3.55 rears and low pro 22.5's. Yours might be set up different.

1700 rpm while using the Jake's. About 1600 while under load truck is geared for heavy haul 4.10 rears with 12 r 22.5 tires
