It is 109! My inside truck thermometer said 148! I was getting up every 20 mins or so to run for 5 mins and shut off I went for 6 and the smog cop got me. He was just some old guy sitting in a tractor with a stop watch. This is at the the pilot in palm springs ca. How is this legal?

    Maximum Idle Times -

    5 minutes
    Fines: Minimum $300, Subsequent
    penalties can range from
    $1,000 to $10,000

    Exceptions -

Bus passengers are onboard or 10 minutes prior to
    boarding
    - Traffic conditions
    - Queuing beyond 100' of residential
    - Adverse weather conditions or mechanical
    difficulties
    - Vehicle safety inspection
    - Service or repair
    - Power takeoff involving cargo or work functions
    - Prevent safety or health emergency
    - Emergency vehicles
    - California low-NOx idling label

Lawyer up, you prevented a safety/health emergency by resting. They demand we take a 10 hour break, and you were doing that. Had you not rested you would then be in violation of DOT laws which demand you not operate a CMV while fatigued. This is why I've invested in a lawyer plan. Had tickets thrown out, and one that the court keeps deciding to reschedule.
