This only applies to APUs on trucks with 2007 model year (and later) engines. 2006 and earlier can run any APU they want, all they want.

BTW, there's lots of trucks idling at every cooling shed and truck stop I've been to since Jan. 1 and never a cop in sight. I expect they'll probably enforce it on a complaint basis. However, decide for yourself ... I won't pay your fine if I'm wrong. Besides, I have an APU. :biggrin_25523:

Um, no. They would just crucify the trucker for "murdering" the poor doggie. It is ALWAYS The trucker's fault. No matter what the situation, if anything dies, or is injured, or is damaged, it is ALWAYS the truck driver's fault. Period.

    Was he idling his cruiser?

If I remember correctly(not a sure bet lol) there are exemptions in the law for police, fire, emergency vehicles, etc. Strangley, I dont think they exempt shool buses. Even though the law does not tech. exempt 4 wheelers, we know they wont be bothered!:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510: I honestly think it will take the death of a driver to heat stroke before anyone cares enough to think what they are doing. I had heard that OSHA had gotten involved, but cant find any verification of it. And its been a while since OSHA did anything to actually help workeres, IMO.

Pathfinder, Naw, it won't take the death of a driver before that nonsensical law is changed. It will take the death of a family or the law-maker themselves to get the law changed. They don't give a flying f about truck drivers, if they did, stupid laws like that would never have been passed to begin with. Now many states are joining Ca., Ga., Mn., NY, Fl., in the crusade to kill us drivers with idiotic anti-idle laws. Don't forget, that is goin' green! Have the lawmakers turn off their airconditioners this summer(they will go RED), then have 'em turn off their heaters in the winter(they'll go BLUE as they die from hypothermia!). All for goin' green, my friends!

To clarify; it will take the death of a family, etc, because lots of us truckers are going to be driving while asleep from lack of adequate rest, because of this anti-idling frenzy. You would think the DOT with their safety regs and OSHA would supercede such BS. ??!!

I've been at the California Air Resources Board workshops. Reps from CalOSHA and CADOT are fighting them over it.

First off, thanks for attending and trying to change things for the better! I have sent numerous emails to various govt. types and gotten nothing back(no, not surprised at all) I wonder if anyone has thought of getting the ACLU involved? Could this be ruled as a form of discrimination? We all know the laws wont be enforced on the 4 wheelers! And if the law does not specifically exempt someone then wouldnt "targeted" enforcement violate some law or right? I have been sittng in Lodi since Friday afternoon and there are a LOT of us idling.
