Today I was riding with another driver and we were #### chatting and we got to talking about Cab-Overs and it didn't dawn on me until now, but some of our harder tougher backs wouldn't be so hard or so tough if we did them in cab overs. The guy I was talking to said "I love cab overs."
I thought about it our tough down town backs some of them are really hard because the front end of the tractor gets short on room and we drive Volvo's which have kind of big square fronts. Well cab overs you don't have a front at all, I seriously think for getting in and out of tough spots a cab over is the way to go. I never thought about cab overs like that before, but they would be good for getting in and out of hard spots, just something to think about.
Cab Overs- should make a come back

Well the only manufacturer that makes cabovers currently for the U.S. market is Freightliner, with the Argosy and even then you can only get it as a glider kit. The complete trucks are built and exported to right hand drive markets overseas(South Africa,Australia and New Zealand in particular-however some have made their way up to Canada, mostly with heavy haul outfits). Here's what the current model looks like:http://www.truckpaper.com/listings/trucks/for-sale/6000551/2014-freightliner-argosy
The only other options for us here is to look at the used truck market(I wouldn't mind having one myself if I ever get my own authority).Dominick253, JReding, skinnytrucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I miss my old cab overs and love looking at them but I have no desire to drive them anymore .

Not a bad idea for these delivery companies running day cabs in the city or for all these megas hiring new drivers.
Dominick253 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
We may start to see the return of cab overs in a few years. With the push for longer trailers, and more weight, one of the compromises proposed was reinstating more restrictive length limits. Not sure how that equates to a compromise, but that's one thing I read. If twin 33 foot trailers and 96,000 ever gets passed, we may need cabovers to stay with overall length limits and to allow more weight to be hauled. At least one company is pushing for 57' and 60' trailers to be ok nationwide.

Drove an Argosy for over a year all over the country and loved that truck. Sure made it a lot easier squeezing in out of tight car dealerships.Dominick253, mjd4277, JReding and 5 others Thank this. -
