This is a ripoff, since the digital source means nothing. You do not need a converter box if you have cable, even if you do not have the set top box.

The conversion from digital is done at the cable companies facility, and the stuff that comes out of the RG6 or RG59 cable to your TV is already matched to an analog output. There is no reason that cable companies should be charging more, unless they are doing it to be purposely confusing, and ripping people off.

That's the gist of the article, since creating these new digital tiers do nothing.

It's a ripoff. If you have cable, but do not have a box for the cable, nothing will change in Feb 2009. You will continue to watch TV as normal. If you use an antenna or rabbit ears, you need the converter box (the one you can get the $40 card for).

Again, if you have cable, you do not have to buy a higher priced "digital tier" plan to watch your normal programming. The nationwide digital switch only applies to you if you use an antenna. If you use an antenna as a backup, you need the $40 converter you can purchase from RadioShack or Best Buy, not a different plan from the cable company.

    Baack Thanks this.
