I'm not sure. Most of us Florida drivers live in Orlando, Tampa, and South Florida. I know we have a couple of drivers that live south of Atlanta. Call into safety and ask for Brian or Mort.

Tallahassee, my neck of the woods............On another note, JohnBoy I've got a question for you. I've read this entire thread, spoke with you quite a bit, and respect and gain knowledge from all your posts, but the constant I've noticed over the last almost 2 years is that you really enjoy your hometime and the consistency of being home every weekend. With this said, why is it that you make so many west coast turns, with these runs you're out almost 3 weeks, that seems to be far from the hometime that you enjoy. I don't post this in a deragotory manner, just a question I've had for a while, does Calex make an issue of you going west, or is it just something you enjoy doing every 3 or 4 weeks? I appreciate any response, and safe travels on the way back east.

It's something that I enjoy every 4-6 weeks. I get a little wiped out running up and down the east coast. Going out west for me is a relaxing drive, except in the winter. I'm actually gone 16 days when I run out west. Calex doesn't make an issue about going west. Louie will ask me if I want to go and depending on what I have going on at the house dictates if I go. And I might also add that my work ethic and ability to not be late with the freight takes a load off his shoulders. I'm quite sure there's alot of drivers here that do the same job as I do, but I'm sure him knowing that once the load is dispatched he won't hear from me until I'm empty.

And one more thing that plays into this, when I'm home, I'm home for a minimum of 4 nights. So never being bothered about time off says to me that if asked to run out west I'll always say yes.

Right now I'm not enjoying my time here in California. I called the packing house and was told my Sunkist Oranges are still being cooled and that they won't be ready until 8pm. I've called twice today and got a later time each time. I guess my Monday delivery in Milton will now be Tuesday.

Sounds like you've got a good mix going on, I think that's something I'm lacking, I've been doing my local deal for 3 and half years now and I have my fair share of variation, but at the end of the day it's always the same; go home, eat dinner, shower, go to bed, get up around 2 am and do it all again.........The company I work for has positions that keep drivers out through the week and home on weekends pulling long dumps, I've just not been able to break away from the norm and go give it another shot, I did it back in early 2010 but just didn't have my priorities straight, seems now I've got things in order and the idea of giving it another go is tempting, it's just hard to part with my local position and the kind of money I make, granted I wouldn't have to leave the company, it's just the fear of the unknown I guess........

Well like my old man always told me, if you don't try it to find out you will always have that question hanging around.

Hey John, my problem lately is that I have been getting to my deliveries early and getting unloaded early which is sending Billy on a bit of a loop. It seems that Im messing up his process a little. I delivered this morning (friday) an hour and a half early at that paper place ( cant remember name) up the road. When I got to the shop, I went up stairs and he was stunned and asked what I was doing there. It was funny the look on his face when I told him Im empty. I went from Mtn. Top to Cap Cod 3 times this week and back to Mtn Top. Got good miles for local work. Well that's all, have a good weekend all!
