I'm home, got here around 10am. I left the yard Friday after my truck got out of the shop. I came down with some kind of bug because when I woke up Friday morning every muscle in my body ached and my stomach was doing cartwheels. I showered and was at the yard by 7am. They took my truck right in and I spent all day sleeping across a table in the lounge. At 4pm I left and headed to McElhattan to pick up my trailer. Every bump I hit felt like driving across the Grand Canyon. I made it to the Petro in Raphine and called it a night. I woke up yesterday morning and was covered in sweat even with the APU running and the inside temp reading 68 degrees. I actually felt pretty good. Whatever I caught seemed to have lasted 24 hours. I made it to the Florida welcome center last night then got rolling about 5am this morning. I deliver Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale then I'll park the truck and not think about it for the next 10 days. This cruise my wife and I are going on is one we did 3 years ago. It's a total of 5,000 nautical miles with 5 ports. I'll leave the driving to the captain and enjoy the ride. Be safe all, I'll stop in a few times before we leave on Thursday. God Bless.

Use this as a learning experience. You're doing the right thing in the way you are handling it. If you have any questions before or after orientation just ask. One of us will be glad to help you out. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Thanks. Funny you said that, I told my wife the same thing when I got home, "You deserve it". Without her help and always being on the wrong end of a phone call when things aren't going John's way this last year, and her doing her extremely busy Real Estate work, she truly does deserves it, more so than I! I have the luxury of turning my back on my job for 2 weeks, my wife is taking her work with her on the ship via the laptop, and smart phone.

I'm seriously thinking about calling Mort and seeing if I can come back aboard. I just don't know what he'll say or if he'll consider re-hiring me. I gave notice, didn't leave on bad terms, and didn't leave Louie in a lurch on the dedicated account. Hopefully, if I do re-apply they'll consider those factors and give me a second chance. Calex was the best trucking job I've had in many years of driving, but I accepted a dedicated account that just didn't work for me. Because of that I jumped on a local opportunity that isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Steve, as long as you left on good terms they will take you back. Just make sure you tell Mort what area you want to run. Hope to see you back soon. Good luck and keep us posted.

This doesn't really relate to Calex, just Voyager's comment regarding local work. Most typically local work is a joke, I can empathize with the things you're probably going through on your local job. The only reason I stick with it is because I'm not real good with being separated from the wife for any duration of time, but I would be willing to bet my savings that Calex is better than anything going local. I was up at 2am this morning to go to Bessemer, Pa, know what time I had to go to bed on a Sunday night? Seven a #### clock!!!!!!!!! Local's not what it's cracked up to be, hope you can rejoin the crew Voyager. JB have fun on that cruise.
