Got to Queens last night and spent the night in front of the consignee. Got up this morning and had a parking ticket on my truck for parking in the wrong direction along the curb in front of the receiver. After moving my truck about 10 times to let all the box trucks get out they finally backed me in at 9:30, only after going inside for the last time to ask them if they really wanted their product of should I take it to Pittston and have Calex reschedule the delivery when they would be ready to receive it. After backing in and watching the side skirts on my new dry van scrape on the hump going to their dock I was empty in 35 minutes.

I called Louie before I left to see what he wanted me to do and he told me to come back to the yard. He said that he was putting together his westbound freight and that he would dispatch me the next morning. I left Queens and didn't hit my brakes once until I was getting off 80 in Columbia for fuel. As I was crossing into Pa my computer came to life. I looked at it and as usual it was Louie sending me my load info. Gotta love the guy, somethings never change. I load in the morning in Lancaster going to Gardena Ca. It's scheduled to deliver Tuesday but Louie said if I could make it Monday to call the customer and reschedule it myself as they would take it early.

I hurried to the yard to get my truck, and apu serviced, new wipers put on and 2 new front drive tires. I was told to be back at 7am and they would put me right in the shop. So much for getting a jump on this load. I still plan on being in Gardena late Sunday night. Be safe all, God Bless.

Just to be fair, Fancypants wasn't too far off the mark if the story is true.

I can say that I had 2 resets in 5 days on my last trip before I turned in the keys. Saturday afternoon to Monday morning, and then Monday afternoon until Wednesday morning. In the 12 days I was out on that run I managed to get only 4,100 miles.

I try to paint a picture of my goings on here at Calex. I am not one that talks about what other drivers go through, I only talk about what I go through, good and bad. That's why it's important for others to write about their adventures here.

I agree John, and I don't know nor care about Fancypants' issues. But I wanted to point out the he/she wasn't lying about the potential for low miles. I had quite a few weeks of it. If I hadn't, I'd still be there because overall I think Calex is a pretty good OTR company.

I still think Louie didn't like me for some reason. Right out of the gate I had a week and a half of local type runs which had me worried, then I got a decent one followed by a run to Detroit and back which ended up being my only trip for the week (happened twice), and then he let me rot on the Boar's Head account for better then a week when it was implied it would only be for a couple days. I almost missed being home for Christmas on that one. And then the 12 day 4,100 mile odyssey. In between, I got a couple decent weeks, but it seemed as if one good one would be followed with one to two bad ones.

Looking back, perhaps I should have switched to Billy's board and given that a try before leaving, but the local job popped up and I jumped on it before it was taken by someone else.

I have spoken to numerous drivers that have been randomly selected for a drug test and have been wondering when my number would be called. Well it finally happened yesterday. Not just a drug test, but an alcohol test also. After taking care of that I went back to the yard, got my truck and hooked to my trailer. I got down to Lancaster and was loaded in less than an hour, along with 3 other Calex trucks, all going to various parts of California. I plan on being in Ontario Sunday evening to start my reset then get up Tuesday morning and go in to deliver. Louie called me yesterday to make sure I would be ready to load in Salinas starting Tuesday night. Be safe all, God Bless.

I'm sitting in Ontario at the T/A 17 hours into my reset. I got here yesterday afternoon. I'll be done with my reset early in the morning. I deliver in Gardena tomorrow then be ready to reload going back to Milton PA.

I got loaded Thursday around 2pm with 3 other Calex trucks going to the same place. I made it to Richmond In and called it a night. I wasn't able to leave until my 10 hour break was up at 10:15 Friday morning. I was up and ready to go at 7am, but the clock said i was still tired. I guess being up and ready doesn't matter, sitting around for 3 hours is what's important. All in the name of safety I guess. I left and made it to Tulsa Ok Friday night and called it a night. Saturday was another productive day and I made it to Milan NM. Sunday saw me with 665 miles to Ontario. I stopped in Barstow, got my truck washed, showered and drove down to the T/A.

Right now I just got done paying some bills, took a shower and am getting ready to drive over to a Safeway to get some groceries.

Just got in this morning, thought there was going to be snow flying around but I didn't see it. I guess it's on the other side of the state. No complaint from me nothing worse than trying to beat morning traffic in Pittsburgh on a normal day let alone when the snow's flying.

    Safe travels heading back east.
