No snow here. 72 and sunny. The only thing I'm missing is seeing a few bikini's walking around. The next best thing is watching truck drivers walking by. Not quite the same.

Good Morning. I am curious about your "local positions". Are they home everday, everyweekend? Ive been running for Harbor House down this way for a while and I'm looking to make a move for better hometime. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Local at Calex means running regional anywhere from Virginia to New England and probably out to Ohio. A good amount of NYC as well. There are a couple of drivers on the board here who are "local" so they can give you a better idea on how they run.

Thanks for the 411 Voyager. I have not applied yet. Just trying to get a feel for what kind of Company Calex is. Reading thru the forum they seem half way descent to work for.

Yeah, although I've never worked for them, I'm pretty sure one could do a WHOLE lot worse than working for Calex. :biggrin_25525:

Been following your posts John Boy. You sound quite happy with this company and I have been looking for a change. I am out of South Carolina, would you know if they are hiring out of there or not. Was going to put in an app this evening

They have usually hired out of SC. That is one of the places that most of our northbound freight comes out of. Call into safety and ask Brian or Mort just to be sure. I do know we just put a driver on from down there.

I run the local side and for me it works well .. some will say its no good depends on what your looking for... we are home every weekend.. if your a hard runner and manage your clock right you can make good money.. i get between 2200 and 2700 miles ... the shorter weeks are normally extra stop loads so it evens out...as far as nyc goes i dont go there very often..but if i am asked i will go..any other questions feel free to ask...

Is Jim Fowler still at Calex?.....how in the world did Calex end up losing the NY Times account? Randy Lynch had that account for years and neve:biggrin_25511:r had a problem.
