Got a phone call early yesterday morning from payroll. Seems the way I wanted to get my vacation pay couldn't be done that way. Instead of being paid the first 2 weeks in January I have to be paid the last pay period of 2012 which is tomorrow. Seems the system won't allow me to take vacation one year and get paid for it another year. So my 2 weeks vacation pay will pay tomorrow along with my trip down to Florida. This way I am completely done pay wise. I had a very good year in the 2 most important categories of OTR, pay and hometime.

Well hello, JohnBoy! Been reading your posts for a while now, good times, to be sure! Like many that have been following your travels, I am interested in Calex, I sent an email inquiring about any opportunities in the LA area this coming spring, perhaps I'll hear back, if it's meant to be. Have a much deserved excellent time on the cruise with your wife.

Spring is a good time to hire on out of California as a solo driver. It's our produce season for our two customers back in PA. The only issue with being a solo driver living in California is the length of time to do the round trip. It goes like this, you get home for a few days of well deserved home time, you chase after produce for 1-2 days then head back to either Milton Pa or Pottsville Pa. You unload then go back to the terminal to take a mandatory 34hr reset. As an average you will be doing about 2800 miles per 7 days. during the height of produce season it's quite possible, and has happened that you won't get a chance to run by the house. These are things I've written about over the course of starting this thread. The few of us that live in Florida, ran and continue to run to California and the NW, always did better miles than solo Cal drivers. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good system to run in, once Louie and Jason see how you run they will work with you to make sure everyone is happy.

As far as my good times go, they always happen when I get home, park and lock my truck and don't have to look at it for 4 days. The rest of the time while gone is work time.

Now that I have gotten over a bad cold for the last 5 days it's time to pack and get ready for our cruise. We are leaving tomorrow about noon and will be back on the 11th. Be safe everyone, God Bless!

I need my consistant CA miles back, but won't be till the end of Jan. Plus holidays hurt the paycheck when not under a load.
