    Hello all,

I'm taking my pre trip, air brakes and skills test in California for the 7th time. Ive used 3 different schools and past the pre trip with each one, but what gives me anxiety every time is that EVERY SCHOOL demands you use their specific script for the pre trip, with one instructor going so as to tell me that the instructors know the scripting for each school. I can't see how this is possible because of how many schools are down here. Does every trucker at and every school literally think that the word is holy script? Lol. Any insight would be appreciated

well since you PASSED the pre-trip portion, AT ALL 3 SCHOOLS.....what on earth are you failing on at the 7 other times..??

forget about the wording on something you passed, tell us what you are failing at....

what i still DO NOT undertand is the 3 CDL schools........and that you passed that pre-trip AT EACH SCHOOL......

why are you going to 3 different CDL schools.>???

this is not making any sense.

get passed any wording issues and do the tests...!!!!

if you got anxiety now, God help you later as a driver.

I should have been more specific, and I was wrong, I'm on my 6th attempt, lol. I apologize. It was either a small mistake on the air brakes, but mostly for the backing skills. I used class A in a day schools the first 3 times, which are the biggest waste of money (and apparently are being outlawed in the state)

After I failed the 3rd time and had to retake the written test, I was driving with my dad as an owner operator, and having him train me, but our truck had a litany of things wrong with ut and couldn't use it for the actual test, and when I went to a different school, I used their 28 ft trailer, and because I was struggling to figure this stuff out I was getting really bad test anxiety. I drive fine on the road, but when people are watching me, and I start panicking I can't focus or process information or commands and their instructions came in the form of screaming. Their equipment failed, in my 4th test, and I used my dad's truck for the 5th, and the DMV down here have most of their course set up for smaller trailers, and wouldn't extend the boundaries when I brought in the big boy. Failed that, and now I'm on my 6th try, using a 3rd school, just so I can use their smaller truck for the smaller coarse space at the dmv.

I've got no problem with pre trip and air brakes, but EVERY SCHOOL says that their verbiage is the only way to say it, and I'll fail if I deviate from it. Even though I've past using different scripts from different schools I should know my answer, I'm just curious if anyone has any definitive facts from the dmv on how they go about different verbiage. I took to driving fine and learning this stuff. I drive with a partner and we always help each other back up when we pick up and drop off. Its only when people are watching me and grading me. A lot of this stuff I nailed in training, but fell apart during the test.

    1) you got bigger problems, if your dad is teaching you how to drive, and he ignores the "litany of things wrong" with his truck,,,clearly sounds to me like an unsafe operator.

they most likely will impound that truck/trailer, which might be the best thing ever, for the "litanly of things wrong"...

    2) words are just words dude...just do it.

i highly doubt you have to repeat them verbatim............

When I say litany of things wrong, I don't mean unsafe. We've been pulled in plenty of times and inspected and passed. Its always one thing at a time that brakes, and we fix it, and yet, another thing brakes, but the truck is always operational, and if not, we don't run it. He's actually a stickler on not putting us in harm's way. He's been driving for 30 years without a wreck or a ticket, but we're new to being owner/ operators and these small repairs are breaking us.

    A couple thoughts

First off there are people who can drive and those who can't, it isn't shameful or bad thing if you can't pass a simple test. Many people can't do it, it is a fact of life. Maybe moving onto something else isn't a bad idea.

Second I wonder why you can't use his truck and trailer for your road test, I can't see why if it passes a road side.

What ever you do, I wish you luck.

I have never heard of different verbage. more important I have never heard of the DMV not having a course marked out to take the test in a growed up truck. I would go to a different dmv and take the test with the truck you are used to driving.

I can drive fine, and I can do all of the maneuvers from the the test, just not very well when people are staring at me while I'm doing it. I'm really terrible at everything, It takes me a while to retain information and I have to Do things repeatedly over a very long period of time before I can commit it to memory.
