there is a story of California DOT and EPA checking the truck ECM by hooking up a laptop to verify ELD data and to be sure the emissions systems are working properly.

Has anyone been checked by CALDOT this way or know first hand that someone has had their truck ECM checked?

That would be in the realm of company data. Similar to the old circle time cards in the dash house clocks that tracked speed and RPM' as well as time. The DOT and any state outfit is to be told one simple word. #########. Stay out.

What they can do is just examine the ELD and associated in cab information only.

The minute the Government starts plugging into everything, you might as well watch the original Tron for the clues to what the future holds.

I don't know it's a fake or not but truck ecm has data that can be compared to eld graphs.

I heard that CA DOT doesn't do anything EPA related. Apparently only the EPA themselves can enforce those associated laws. Not sure how true that is. I do believe I read that here actually.

You can get that info on any late 80's & up motors. IIRC the early detroits showed it as a time, not a graph.
