I'm off to Cali with a 48' step. Running 80k out to Sacramento and then running empty back to Co. This will be a learning experience for me as I've never pulled a wagon past Grand Junction. I take it from this thread that-
I better watch and obey the signs,
be aggressive but careful in lane changes,
    don't idle,
    leave my chains at home,
    buy my cup of coffee,
and get back to Co before anyone notices I was out there.

I've run all over Ca. with a motorhome and double car trailer looking for cars and always looked forward to the trip. Its sad that I'm almost thinking about passing up this trip from reading these posts- new driver jitters I guess.
I'll let you know how it went for me.

Oh yeah you forgot 1 thing, follow the speed limit (55 mph) for trucks. They (CHP) are just loving that action right now.

Dont worry too much about it all, relax and it will all be good!

Working class Patriot-Just DH back to Colorado. It may seen like a long way to dead head but its a longer way from Co. back to Detroit area. Wouldn't do it if it didn't pay and I can't pick up and drop in the US- youall wouldn't like that too much.:biggrin_25524:
Going to follow the speed limits as I don't need to stir up any #### on this run.

2005 Ravens 53'x102 flat, axles set as a 48', with a 24" kingpin. I was told it's cal legal because of it being "grandfathered". I haven't found anything about that on the net, so I thot I'd entertain everyone by asking for opines...
