I'm sure, it's a 10 speed etn auto and it's a peterbilt. I absolutely hate it. I never liked the idea of an auto, but had never driven one. I can honestly say now, it's worse than I thought.

    mje Thanks this.

Just hang in there, get with your dispatcher and terminal manager. Explain your concerns, they are pretty good about things like that.

    mje Thanks this.

I had one for a week in training, and agree with you. Even if they aren't actually 'out of control', it sure feels that way...

    mje Thanks this.

Why would a truck driver's service become less valuable by switching from a manual transmission to an automatic transmission? The truck drivers are still going to be very much needed to haul freight all over.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I have a auto and if you aren't trained how to properly drive a auto you'll hate it. You didn't know how to drive a manual right away did you? No. There is a learning curve for autos too. Too many drivers think "auto I'll just mash the throttle and go." No wrong. The throttle is the control stick for the truck. Feather it. How hard you mash it will tell the truck how to respond. It changes shift points according to how much throttle you give it, the new ones even adjust according to the weight of the load and the incline of the road your on.
Same as a manual it took me at least a month of driving this auto to learn how to control it and drive it properly.

    mje and daf105paccar Thank this.

That's bs. plain and simple. They can't put autoshifts/automatics in all trucks - period. There is too many applications that require human control and an autoshift/Automatic wouldn't just work.
