Congressman Brian Babin Introduces House Bill to Delay ELD mandate
Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36th) has introduced H.R. 3282, "The Electronic Logging Device Extension Act of 2017." The bill seeks to amend the current ELD implementation date by two years until December 2019, allowing more time to further evaluate the readiness of the mandate.
“We appreciate Congressman Babin’s leadership on this issue. While we still believe the ELD mandate should be outright repealed, FMCSA simply isn’t ready to implement this rule,” OOIDA Executive Vice President Todd Spencer said. “Congressman Babin’s bill would provide more time for the agency to address a number of significant unresolved concerns identified by stakeholders.”
We are now at a critical stage where adding Congressional Cosponsors to the legislation will help the delay get signed into law and we need your help. Please contact your Representative and tell them to cosponsor H.R. 3282 today. Click The Link Below. Its fast and painless.

Maybe you're right. But me personally I can be drowsy in 15 minutes of driving. I can be wide awake and alert after being up 24+ hours. That's been my real world experience and I've been doing this along time.
Ps I'm not a troll with only two posts and even less driving experience.Mattflat362, poppapump1332, Lite bug and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've not logged much since we had the ten hour rule to contend with. I run local, elogs will not directly effect me. That does not change the fact they are bad for the industry. They only add cost, stress and are counterproductive. They don't add anything to safety.
I stopped at the P-lot in Bentlyville the other day it get sandwich. It was 5:30 pm already the wagons were circling looking for a spot to park. You say planning but how do you do that? You would have to cut your day hours short to make sure you can get a spot to park. If you ran until the last hour you run the risk of not getting in into a legal/safe spot.
I know I should not feed the troll but I was going to mow the yard and it's raining. So I'm bored.Lite bug Thanks this. -
You say elogs won't improve safety and it will only cause you to follow the law closer. Is that correct?

I'm not advocating 24hrs driving but we need more freedom to work as we see fit... You can either be "legal" or safe... Not both.Accidental Trucker, Lite bug, dirthaller and 2 others Thank this. -
