My biggest concern is finding a restaurant with good food and a cute waitress. You have been misinformed.

    Mudguppy and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Your likely more interested in the cute waitress, than the good food!;)

Dang. I work for a small company and they close down 12a-7a except for the accident line which, knock on wood, I've never had to use.

Started at Stevens and never had this issue. Nuts.

This can't be true. I could not imagine contending with that bovine fecal matter.

I work for Swift and have only asked to take a new route once because I made the mistake of teaming with a dude for a few weeks and he refused to take that route without approval. Otherwise I've always picked the shortest route or the most convenient and called in for a new fuel solution. Never been an issue. The only time it's been an issue is when I have asked permission.

I don't ask permission. If they don't yell, no harm no foul. IF they chose to yell then, we will do some yelling. They take the first shot. Because Ive fixing to yell back at them. Those walls are pretty thin way down the hall from the drivers den. They hear everything.

After one of those yelling matches I had to buy a giggling airhead dispatcher who knows nothing dinner in town. Cost me a good 30 dollars she did. Of course it hurt her feelings to hear me yell her name and then attach the giggling airhead to the string of adjectives and verbs...

Don't you know it's always the drivers fault. When you cannot get anything but the recording saying "all dispatchers are busy, your call will be answered in the order it was received" it's the drivers fault for calling. Half hour wait time; call the accident number and have them transfer you. CDL class A is for accident line and takes 30 seconds top for answers.

Get a year in then find a smaller carrier. I worked for a mega and will never again.
I get paid way more and my manager is awesome! Even gave me his personal cell # for any emergencies. He's a 9to5 with weekends off but can get a hold of him easily. When I call he knows my number and I don't even have to say a truck #. I run a dedicated account so it's me and 20 other guys. For nights & weekends it's usually just one or two guys that help with standard stuff like Repairs,Lumper,OS&D, Emergencies any additional info on load. Just stick it out for a year and better opportunities will be for your choosing.
