Sounds pretty gloomy, yet spot on, sadly. I think these companies are "stockpiling" names for if things turn around, but 40 companies and not a nibble, something doesn't seem right. Prelude to meltdown? I read, that blew me away, in 2023, EIGHTY EIGHT THOUSAND( 88,000) trucking companies, and 8,000 freight brokerages went belly up. That trend continued into 2024, with 10,000 more in the first half alone. If that's true, and off the internet so it must be, that's incredible. Used truck, anyone?
I'm telling ya', our kids will see National Guard driving AM Generals pulling Swift trailers.

job boards like Indeed are a joke. Only way I’ve ever gotten a job is by marching in somewhere and asking if they were needing anybody. And a couple I got because I knew somebody.Iamoverit Thanks this. -
I forgot about this company. They run regional, I understand you prefer local, but check this one out, I think they're based in Maine. -
@Kash21 Where in NH are you? Are you married to Hazmat? Do you want home every day or can you do out weekly?
-
If I see something that's from a company I'm interested in I will contact them directly or go to their website. Many times the jobs aren't even open. Indeed and it's AI are really hurting job seekers.JonJon78 and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
Decided to go in person today and sure enough they aren't hiring. The lady said they "for some reason" get computer generated job listing's.
She was extremely nice and gave me a printed application and said that although they aren't currently hiring, that could change and filling out a paper application and turning it into her would be way better than filling out anything on the internet...
Needless to say, from here on out I'm going in-person everywhere from now on. IMO that puts you miles ahead anyhow, really shows you are serious and want a job. -
Like yourself, I also learned the hard way. I sent my resume in to lots of places. I was over qualified for many and initially thought that's why I wasn't getting responses.
Then I dropped the bar. Still no responses. Then I decided to make up resumes to match job descriptions exactly. Still nothing.
It wasn't until I started contacting the alleged employers directly did I realize what was happening.
There are legitimate postings but IME they are only a very small percentage. Like maybe 10 to 25 percent.
There really isn't many places to look for jobs online anymore. So much of it is fake and it's extremely difficult to tell from behind a keyboard. -
If you can meet face to face with a terminal manager it goes a long way.
Far better than on line nonsense.
Make yourself look professional and not look like you crawled out of a dumpster.Long FLD Thanks this.
