Having fun! Not really. Trying to get set up for unload tomorrow. I’ve managed to tear up the tar and gravel road out front with my 3-4 attempts at a backing into their tiny lot with my split axel trailer. It’s 100 degrees here so my trailer made huge deep tracks on the hot soft street right in front of the business.
I just couldn’t get in and the tracks look ridiculous. It was so bad that I went around the block and tried to enter from a side alley that saw on google street view. Then I basically got stuck between a phone pole and a parking lot curbed landscaped island. I did get past the telephone pole but that parking lot island has 2 brand new huge deep tracks across it. One of those days.
Can’t park and just making it worse

...and people think I'm crazy because I actually prefer hooking to the 1 closed tandem 48' flat we've got (the rest are spreads). Sure, you can get lazy with the spreads and never have to worry about axle weights, but I usually try to load it even or slightly biased to the drives anyway. Definitely maneuvers easier, and when faced with a tight back, I can slide the tandems to either shorten the track or eliminate the tail swing, whichever the situation might call for. That and it doesn't chew up the tires as much.
Seriously, though, for as "common" as spread axles are, I just don't see where they are practical unless you are allowed to gross 86K you really aren't gaining anything but trouble with the spread.RedRover, Blackshack46, Oldironfan and 2 others Thank this. -

Looks like teenagers did donuts out in front of the business. Then drove over the grassy parking island. I just hope maybe it rains tonight or something.

Look around to see if there are cameras anywhere, and if not just leave...come back in the morning like you were never there. If you're there when they show up to see it, you'll get blamed. Of course if there are cameras, you're busted anyway so you may as well just sit tight.
