I was thinking of getting the silver overhaul kit for Acert motor with 16:1 pistons. As silver is all new parts and not reman. Get Acert crankshaft and connecting rods also if it will fit. Already have Acert head and 600 hp cam on motor but broke a liner and now need to do bottom end again. Looking for better reliability not more hp. Have 600hp brakesaver program in can. Wanted to stay with 40 pin ecm as in 1996 peterbilt with no elf requirement

16.1 compression seems bad for big power builds.
I think most guys go with 15.1 type compression for Franken builds.

Was looking for info from somebody that has done this build. I've been told that Acert is 18:1 stock and that is to high. Also that acert crankshaft and connecting rods have to be used. Not sure if it will fit in 6ts block. Liners are same part # for 3406e and acert so pistons ,crankshaft and connecting rods are different. Already had failure with 6nz parts so time to try something else. This is my daily driver at 105500lbs

Liner flange cracking I would think you are having liner ####ing, fretting and protrusion issues. Best to have block cut for stainless shims and set all heights at top end of spec.

I was just saying from what ive read 16 seems high. I've never built a Franken engine. But I would like to. I'm just a driver except for 2 days off every 2 weeks.

16.1 is not high for big hp. Use what I posted. The 7172 liner packs have the same rods as acert. If you don't want to buy the liner packs. You can have the acert piston bowels milled down to 16.1. Acert crank will fit in all 3406 blocks.

    Oxbow and Oldironfan Thank this.
